I'm 170 pounds so clearly i need to eat 170 grams of protein and 85 grams of fat.

When i hit my 170 and 85 and i have 200-300 calories left over would it better to eat more fats or protein? I typically have those calories to make up before bed and i'm getting hungry by then.

From what i have been reading i can go over in fats....any positive or negative going over in protein?

Thanks

There are no negative effects from going over in protein either. It is pretty much personal preference.

Why not carbs? I'd go with protein though because you can eat more

You can do as you prefer, but if you're active, lifting, and not obese, carbs will probably be the most beneficial thing to spend your discretionary calories on.

I'm not Obese by any means. I'm 5'8 and 170 pounds...i have a stomach that is shrinking though.

I just wanted to know what i should eat when i'm hungry as i'm in a calorie deficit until my stomach flattens out....fats or protein. I get around 130g of complex carbs...isn't that more than enough?

i personally just eat whatever i feel like eating as long as im not exceeding my calories. its mostly carbs for me since i will usually want to snack on something before bed

Most active people find carbs help fuel intensity in workouts, and there is some evidence that hormones, like leptin, do a little better with moderate carb intake.

But just in terms of satiety, you should be picking high-volume, low-calorie foods. That's a better approach than focusing on any one macro, just in terms of hunger.

You don't need 170g of protein unless you at 0% bodyfat. Protein min is 1g/lb of lean body mass.
