Harbaugh drafted Kaepernick and looked for any excuse to make him the starter. Kaepernick is Harbaugh's guy all the way, hand-picked for his particular traits to lead this team.

This. Alex was given to Harbaugh. Kaepernick was Harbaugh's pick as the future of his program.

If Harbaugh thought Kaepernick was that much better than Smith, he wouldn't have started Smith at the beginning of the season.

It had nothing to do with being better and everything to do with him being prepared to start. Last year there was a strike and basically no offseason, so this was Kaepernick's first preseason essentially. Most of the draft chatter on him said that he'd need 2-3 years of sitting and watching to be ready. Based on them giving Alex a one year deal, it seemed like the plan was to have Kaepernick start in 2013, however once he came into the Bears game and tore **** up, there was no going back for Harbaugh.

alex smith i bet is secretly wishing the 49ers lose so he can once again become the greatness in SF

You're retarded if you think there is even a remote chance of Alex Smith starting in SF next year...short of Kaepernick somehow having his career ended its not possible.

Alex will be gone win or lose due to guaranteed money. Backups dont get that kind of treatment very often.

Wrong. If it werent for that ****ing punt returner... Alex would have won the sb

If it weren't for Kyle WIlliams, Alex would be the starting QB right now, guaranteed. Coulda woulda shoulda though, means nothing now.

Niners thought they'd be rematching the Giants this postseason, and Alex does not do well against the Giants. If Niners didnt get buttraped by the Giants earlier this season, the red flags probably wouldnt have been raised. THey needed a new weapon to beat Eli (lol).

The real question is if the ravens lose, do they go back to Trent dilfer?
