View Full Version : IMO Andre Drummond will be the best center in the league in 3-4 years

I don't know how many of you watch the Pistons, and really, why would you right now (though they do have some young talent), but Andre Drummond at 19 years of age is REALLY playing well. He is only averaging a little over 20 minutes a game, but is already the Pistons best player and is near the top or at the top in many league per minutes stats. He is incredibly mobile for a 7 footer, and despite being so raw, has some sweet basketball moves that most guys who are 6'5" or smaller only have. I read an article not long ago that if the draft were held today, it would be neck and neck between him and Davis, with Drummond perhaps being a little ahead.

It will be a fun ride for Piston fans watching this guy develop.

Hopefully he will play his career as a true big man and have a dominant low post presence that is practically non-existant in this league

Still think he's DeAndre Jordan 2.0

39% FT shooting? really?

Shouldn't he really only be a freshman at UConn this year? I remember him going there a year earlier than he was supposed. But he definitely has some potential.

He was way too tentative last year. Now he looks like he's comfortable being one of the biggest guys on the floor. Hope he keeps progressing because he's clearly got the potential to be a dominant big man for a long time.

He would be a soph this year.

Agreed

Drummond's got the most potential out of his draft class. Fuking Pistons are not giving him proper playing time at all. They will realize it sooner or later

Saw him play his freshmen year at Capital Prep.

My first impression - wow who is this 6'9" kid that has handles like a point guard, and the 3 point shot of a shooting guard. He was also blocking three point shots from the paint.

I went to a invitational and saw him play for St Thomas More as well - best player on the court at all times.

I would also like to point out that he is 19 YEARS OLD.

That's right.

19 YEARS OLD.

if they handle him well, Pistons will have a sick front court with Monroe and him

Doubt it. 3-4 years? Dwight would only be 30, and even when "rusty" with a healing back right now he is still the best.

Drummond has a high upside with proper coaching but you clearly just learned about him. Best player on the Pistons? Until further notice that is Greg Monroe, don't let the per 36 stuff fool you. His numbers may not look impressive but he's skilled and consistently productive.

Depends on coaching how far he will actually go from here.

Hopefully the Pistons have a big man coach working with him. He could easily end up trying to emulate Josh Smith at 6'11 280lbs if they let him do what he wants to do on the floor.

Nothing wrong with that either.

No.

Jordan doesn't have any of the skills Drummond has and isn't as good of an all around athlete.

Dwight isn't even he best center right now and is only going to keep getting worse. The best centers in 3-4 years will be Joakim Noah, Anthony Davis, and Jeff Withey

Brandon Knight, Monroe, Drummond, and then if they can get someone like Shabazz or McLemore, that core 4 has a nice future IMO.

Shaq's voice : Bynum is the best center in the league, left hand hook, right hand hook.

Thats all it takes to be best center now? Do u have to make those hooks too Shaq?

Lifelong Pistons fan checking in....Drummond isn't the best in the game, but he's pretty damn solid he actually might be pretty close to the best. 20 PTs 20 Rebs against the Bulls. 3-0 team. Stan Vangundy is heating up. The only problem is his FTs, which looked like they got worse. In b4 he gets the Deandre treatment.

The motion looks much improved. He's ~60% so far this year compared to ~40% last season

He went 4/10 against the bulls. He had a flukey 8/11 or some shyt game. Don't look better. Also because the Pistons sucked ass for a few years not many teams have literally employed a hack-an-Andre strategy. If Andre got repeatedly fouled and brought to the line watch his FT% plummet.

Ok if you throw away the 8/11 outlier game you have to throw out the 4/10 bulls game. You're left with 6/10 vs ATL

I think dre will be closer to 60% than 40% this season
