I don't think anyone said he was a gimmick. They just said their offense with the read-option was.

lot of teams need a QB still and once he is traded will just give 49ers more weapons.

I knew he was gunna be good when I watched him at Nevada...(srs)

big, tall, fast as fuk, cannon arm, accurate passer. I knew whoever got him was getting a steal.

But it's not. At all.

Statistically it was good, 16/21 for 233 yds and 1 TD, but just looking at the stats are misleading. Watching the game, I think Alex Smith probably could have made a lot of those throws, if not all. I can't say for certain because well...he wasn't playing.

In the beginning it was a ton of short throws and a couple to an uncovered Vernon Davis (lol, seriously atlanta? Strong fail).

I can think of about two or maybe three throws that were impressive. I think I understand why Harbaugh switched. It wasn't because of his passing ability, but instead because of the running ability. Some of those runs were possible due to the defensive coverage because of Kaepernick's running ability.

For the people claiming he's the next great pocket passer, I really didn't see too much that indicated that.
