It seems that every year he leads him team past the divisional only to fall short in the championships...

Surely he should be included in the discussion,right?

If he won 5 super bowls in a row everyone would just say it was the team and not him, so no

I think he is a top 5 qb right now.

I think he is a top 5 qb right now.

1/2/3 Brady/Rodgers/Manning
4. Brees
5. Flacco

..............................?

edit: homer argument. Flacco was drafted the same year as matt ryan. Matt ryan has missed two games, flacco none. Matt ryan has more yards, and a better career passer rating and current year passer rating. Flacco td/int: 102/56 ryan td/int:127/60

Not sure how you can put flacco ahead of ryan, or a handful of other brahs. dude finished 12th for passer rating on the season, with a rating only 6 pts shy of highest in his career (87.7 this year, 93.9 highest)

It will propel his salary into elite status but thats about it.

Flacco is good, elite gets thrown around too easily.

Location Georgia - one could argue Matt Ryan just won his first playoff game. Flacco somehow holds the record for road playoff wins already

Eli Manning has won 2 Super Bowls and I still wouldn't consider him "elite". Just plays well at the right time.

does it matter? he's good enough for his team to win

i wouldn't consider Ben elite, but i am sure he and the Steelers organization are happy with his career thus far

Mark Sanchez has won a good bit of playoff games. And look at him. Prime examples of why you don't judge players based on wins because its a team game. Sanchez and Flacco have both had extremely good defenses their entire career.

Not hating on Flacco because I think lately he has stepped up and actually was a big fan up until he started whining to the media and then saying " I don't care what you say " and yet whine more. And then started talking smack about Tebow, but he is not anywhere near elite status. His regular season performances are too inconsistent.

Unless he throws for 300+ yards, no INTs, 3+ TDs and runs one. No. Sham QB. His defense wins.

It'll boost his contract amount, then he can go back to being average Joe.

most people put Brady/Peyton/Rodgers/Brees on their own tier above Ben/Eli/etc. those 4 are the 'elite' category.

Yes, they do.

To answer the OP it wouldn't put him in Elite status mainly because he is/was a big armed game manager who the Ravens couldn't trust. He has played well lately, but these kind of games are sporadic instances for Flacco. He came into a situation where he is overshadowed by the Big 4(Ray, Ed, Sizzle, Ngata) on the defense and for the entirety of their careers Ray Rice has become more important than Flacco.

elite qbs dont post sub 500 records. no matter how bad their team is. and saints d isn't historically bad. they're just bad. it's the fact the offense is always passing that makes it so they get overly inflated bad numbers.

we've seen manning consistently post positive records despite jim caldwell at hc, no run game or defense.

flacco just falls under the trent dilfer category

Lol no....

Almost half his games he threw for under 200 yards. He is fine but not even close to elite.... Just watch him throw.

Outplayed Brady in the past two Ravens-Pats games
Outplayed Manning last week in Denver
Outplayed Eli Manning week 16

Tied for the most road playoff victories in NFL history. His numbers have vastly improved since Cam Cameron was fired. Caldwell calls a mix of plays so Flacco isn't a statue in the pocket every passing play. He is one of the best deep passing QB's in the league. Stats from another message board:

"Passes are qualified as either "short" or "deep" in the official play-by-play, so this is based on those classifications of each pass (Flacco):

Deep Left: 13/43, 337 Yards, 4 TD, 0 INT --> 30.2%, 7.8 Y/A, 90.9 QB Rating
Deep Middle: 16/35, 470 Yards, 3 TD, 1 INT --> 45.7%, 13.4 Y/A, 108.9 QB Rating
Deep Right: 30/59, 992 Yards, 8 TD, 1 INT --> 50.8%, 16.8 Y/A, 129.1 QB Rating

Deep All: 59/137, 1799 Yards, 15 TD, 2 INT --> 43.1%, 13.1 Y/A, 120.5 QB Rating

comparison with Tom Brady:

Deep Left: 15/48, 452 Yards, 4 TD, 1 INT --> 31.3%, 9.4 Y/A, 86.5 QB Rating
Deep Middle: 14/33, 391 Yards, 4 TD, 1 INT --> 42.4%, 11.8 Y/A, 113.8 QB Rating
Deep Right: 10/38, 306 Yards, 2 TD, 3 INT --> 26.3%, 8.1 Y/A, 45.3 QB Rating

Deep All: 39/119, 1149 Yards, 10 TD, 5 INT --> 32.8%, 9.7 Y/A, 80.1 QB Rating

Aaron Rodgers:

Deep Left: 9/27, 218 Yards, 3 TD, 0 INT --> 33.3%, 8.1 Y/A, 100.5 QB Rating
Deep Middle: 12/25, 341 Yards, 4 TD, 3 INT --> 48%, 13.6 Y/A, 94.2 QB Rating
Deep Right: 26/52, 850 Yards, 8 TD, 1 INT --> 50%, 16.3 Y/A, 127.4 QB Rating

Deep All: 47/104, 1409 Yards, 15 TD, 4 INT --> 45.2%, 13.5 Y/A, 115.4 QB Rating"

No. Flacco's consistently inconsistent. To be a great, you need to carry your team. He's never been able to prove he can do that as of yet.
