From reading the ESPN writeup, despite being a lifelong Cardinal fan, even I forget how good he was sometimes.

Saw him once at old Busch about 10 years ago, just walking around the stadium halls. A little kid ran up to him very excitedly while his parents watched from a distance, tugged on his jacket, and Musial smiled and autographed something for him. The kid ran off, Musial looked back and waved to the parents, and continued on. Very normal thing to see ... just a friendly, smiling, and old (even at 82, he looked old old old) man doing what everyone would hope someone like him do. The fact that it all seemed so normal fit perfectly with his reputation.

Hell of a guy. Great to see someone so respected live a long, full life.

Cut out the SI article when they wrote about him a couple years ago. What an amazing player and person

One of the greatest players of all time without question. There are a few articles on ESPN now about this; all are worth reading.

24 time All-Star, that just boggles the mind.

He played 22 seasons but 24 all-star games because 4 of those years, there were 2 all-star games. Still, he made the all-star team every year of his career but his first 2 years.
