View Full Version : The Greatest Shooter of All Time

Also has one of the worst ankles of all time, and his name is Stephen Curry.

jXDKOl2xLNw
DSnpPWZFv6o

Only person in NBA history with a higher career 3 pt % is Steve Kerr, who took 1-2 3 pt shots a game. Stephen Curry shoots 5-7 3 pt shots a game. Steve Kerr also played for 3 seasons when the 3-point line was lowered to 22 feet all around (the distance of a corner 3 today), if you remove those 3 seasons, Stephen Curry becomes the most accurate 3 pt shooter of all time, and at an obscenely higher volume.

Career averages:
Curry = 44.3% on 5.0 attempts per game
Steve Kerr = 45.4% on 1.8 attempts per game

Additionally ridiculous is that Stephen Curry does it predominantly off the dribble, whereas practically every single other great shooter ever was only prolific from catch and shoot jumpers. This graph has the current frequent 3 pt shooters in the league (Ray Allen is the top right dot). Being further to the left means that your shots are unassisted (off the dribble) and to the right are assisted (catch and shoot).

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/QbQa2dJN5gp_kmzcSoVQ6oNM-tUKlk8XBM9hGfJVk8BMBO4it0j32yhs_Afnjik7tpP0sYHwgDt 4RGLZ8eYxCYCklmoyzituh99NbDkk9taPc1CS_Tw

The shots Curry makes are normally considered the least efficient shots in the league... and yet he makes them at an incredible rate. (He is currently the highest 3 pt % in the league)

There is no argument, Steph Curry is the best shooter of all time, now if he could just stay on the court :(

1/10th the games, and already nearing the career number of shots made after 3 seasons, and his % has gone upward every season. Add in the fact that he shoots almost no corner 3's and often off the dribble and contested... how is this a stupid idea?

You've probably never seen steph curry play.

The fact that you even mentioned Kerr as the greatest shooter of all time for one. Kerr was the man but he is not even close to the greatest shooter of all time. Shooting percentage doens't mean **** on its own. Is Tyson Chandler the best shooter in the league right now? He has hte highest shooting percentage...

Ray Allen is far and away the best of all time. Curry might have a chance after his career is said and done but unfortunately he plays like half seasons already and hes only been in the league 3 years.

Ray Allen is hardly a 40% career 3 pt shooter. And by that I literally mean his career number is 40% exactly. If we're arguing better player then yeah obviously Ray Allen... but we aren't. Literally the ONLY thing Ray Allen has over him is games played. All signs point towards Curry being a far and away superior shooter. He wouldn't be even close to the NBA if he wasn't such an incredible shooter at his height and frame.

Saying Ray Allen is the best shooter of all time is like saying Kobe is the GOAT simply because of his longevity. Ray Allen was almost never (if ever?) the highest 3 pt % in the league. How can you be GOAT if you were never the best for even a season?

And again Ray Allen is all catch and shoot and corner 3's. Curry is the only real outlier in this category.

edit: also your tyson chandler reference was full potato. He's that high because he hardly shoots and when they are its a dunk. Stephen Curry is an absolute chucker and takes ****loads of low % shots every single game, and hes STILL at the top. Strong analogy.

If "all-time" means this season, then probably. I'd like to submit Steve Nash for all-time though.

Of any one among the top 50 in 3pointers made, nash has the best percentage, and it's not really close (he's 10th for most made, btw)
He is tied for the highest ft% of all time.
He (as a pg) has shot +50% from the field 8 of the last 9 years, and has a career mark of 49.1%

I've never seen somebody shoot off the dribble like Curry. A bunch of my friends thought he would be a scrub in the NBA, like what, he can get his shot whenever, shoots amazing off the dribble, quick release, great form, instinctual and saavy player all dating back to Davidson. Things would be different right now for the T-Wolves if they drafted Curry. FUKC.

Has nothing to do with him averaging 21/6.5/4 on the season. He's also having the best season as a shooter probably ever, so yeah, it's valid to point out that we are witnessing a historic shooter/player.

Op isnt saying curry is the best player of all time. His point was based off shooting statistics. Last time I checked, having a ring or not doesent change the fact a guy can make jumpshots more often then most others.

Thats like saying the team who has the player with the highest batting average in the league should win the world series every single year.

Rather build my team around a guy that scores 15-20 and only lets up 10-12 regularly than a guy that scores 25-30 and lets up 25-30. It's funny how people bring this up. Yes his defense isn't great, but he isn't guarding the best perimeter player especially if they are the pg i.e because they always hide him on the worst offensive wing player. The only time he plays someone good is when they play a team who has multiple perimeter threats.

Nobody says much about Parkers D or Steve Nash's D who some think is one of the greatest pg's of all time despite being horrible on D.

Tbh if you think defense from your point guard is half the game you're going potato

Btw you're posting in the wrong thread bro.

You put curry on the same tier as Rubio. Your ****ty opinions have shown to have no weight

Tbh if you're implying a PGs D isnt important, you're going beyond potato. If you're PG can't play d, he's giving up penetration, breaking the defense down, causing a rotation and someone will be open. Now get that curry plays against the other teams worst wing player, but his D still looks like garbage against the worst the other team has to offer so what does that say about how bad he would look if he guarded his position

dudes played in like 1/10th of the games that kerr played in, not to mention other guys like ray allen, reggie miller, etc

might be the most retarded thread of all time

calling steph curry the greatest shooter of all time is one of the dumbest statements of all time. /thread

On par with parker lol.. do you even playoffs?? Id maybe put stephy in that rubio category

But who was ankles?

Inferior brother OP of peace.

doesnt fuking matter cuz he has no fuking rings and will never get one.

he's a great shooter.. but his poverty defense pretty much makes up for that. He scores a lot and whoever he's guarding scores a lot. Rather build my team around a guy that scores 15-20 and only lets up 10-12 regularly than a guy that scores 25-30 and lets up 25-30.

Other than saying espn did an alright job on this, nowhere did I say steph was a top pg. Like I said.. he cant defense and unfortunately for him, thats half of the gamw

lol just ****ing lol

How does my post get lumped in there. Curry had massive ankle issues at the time of this post. Read the OP's posts ITT lol, he even references it's a big deal. He also tweaked his ankle IN THAT postseason, effectively losing the series.

Ayy my basketball knowledge wasn't as polished 3 years ago as it is now but I was on the right idea

Btw looking at all these old curry highlights, I think his shot form changed a little. It's quicker now with less of a "catapulting" look to it and more of just a push shot from the legs. His running/cutting mechanics also look different since I believe he trained to change his style to guard his ankles

He also now has a wayne enterprises ankle brace that you can see depending on which shoe he wears, some of the big shoes cover it but it's a serious looking brace. Has to be in the back of every curry stans mind that those things could explode at any moment.

Well technically you can see my brother posted in this thread in 2013 saying at that time I'd already had an authentic curry dildo for at least 4 years

But also my first post about curry on the misc is basically the same as my join date, "steph curry GOAT" was in my sig from the day I made an account. haters gonna hate idk why I defend myself on when my standom begins

Watching this game live made me a curry fan

looks like the case to me as well. he even falls towards the side to protect himself from defenders getting under his leg's landing space which is smart even though officials might give him a flopping call like in the playoffs...

Been on the King Curry hype train since watching those Davidson games in fukking middle school, it didn't take a genius to realize the dude shot better than anyone has before. His game just looks better, period.

I been watching hoop since BEFORE Magic and Larry came in (SRS), and I've *never* seen anybody that shot like Curry.

Dude is freakin' mystical at times. BRB dude is dribbling 7' behind 3pt line, facing the wrong direction, and suddenly launches a 3. Swish. GTFO of here. I quit.

I remember watching those games with my fukking dad bitchboy, he used to always say he couldn't think of too many dudes he's seen shoot like that and he talks about when Julius Erving played. Everyone was always saying he was too small (that's what made me a fan) and his game wouldn't translate...Curry loved being the man and was clutch as fuk even back then. I swear to god I get tired of your womanly ass always trying to stir sh*t up, brothersabetterposter/10

Lol please go, he was disgustingly automatic even back then.

Im pretty sure my post history has posts from 2011 of me saying I've been a die-hard curry fan lol, this isnt anything new. This guy really thinks people couldnt have been a fan since before he blew up, get real dude. Don't you have a lebron or brady thread to argue in? I'm going back to watch some of the smoothest basketball I've ever seen.

edit: Because it doesn't take an idiot to realize he shot out of his mind from the start, you act like he was an unknown player or something.
