just got the news on my phone from ESPN APP that Monte Kiffin is going back to the NFL, USC's bowl game will be his last. Damn good news for us fans, I was optimistic when he first came but his defense was hard to watch.

is he trying to sacrifice himself to save his son? hope the younger Kiffin isn't spared.

AD said last week that Lane would be returning next season.

He did it so his son wouldn't have to fire him. That would be awkward.

Still won't help the fact that they can't score with 7 tries from inside the 10.

I'd rather have Shark back than Lane. New DC should help a little bit, although it seems more like they're patching up a leak with some gum.

This seems logical actually. Buddy of mine swears Chizik's only potential gig in 2013 will be as a DC.

He's right IMO.

Fuk that. I loved what Monty did in Tampa, but the way he abandoned the team in 2008 makes me not want him back ever. Lane gonna Lane and do whatever it takes to keep his job.

JIm Buss said Mike Brown is safe too the day before he was fired. Whats your point?

Trojans are not the Lakers, plus Kiffin has a real good recruiting class coming in. He'll be back 1 more year

It actually make a lot of sense. While Chizik was an awful hc, you still can't ignore the fact that he was a pretty good dc. He primarily runs the tampa 2 which he learned from monte himself. The transition wouldn't be as hard for the players at usc. Add that he's a good recruiter and he fits pretty well at usc.

That would be nice, no problem with keeping the tampa 2, just a problem with the way Monte ran it. One of the main problems with Monte's Tampa 2 at USC was that he wouldn't let the players play. He thought they were too stupid to read the opponents offense and didn't trust them, so he wouldn't let them change the play themselves- instead they had to stick with whatever play Monte gave them.

This. This. This. This. This.

Someone called Kiffin and told him that he's heading back to the NFL and wants him to be his DC. It's that time of year and I think it's either the Eagles or the Cowboys who will be the ones with him on their sideline next year.
