End of an era.

You know what is absolutely crazy.

Kobe is going to walk away before Jabari Parker & Andrew Wiggins begin their NBA careers.

But I know he will come back after a season or 2. Kobe's competitive nature won't allow him to go out on top, none of the greats ever do.

I'm surprised Kobe is still playing at a high level. This is his 17th NBA season beginning in three weeks.

You KNOW he plans on winning back to back, giving him his magic number: 7, at which point he can happily retire with more rings than Mike.

Well he has been helped by never having any serious injury.

LeBron gonna get those rings as Kobe ends his career with the magic number 5 like Magic.

I swear, dude has got to be some sort of cyborg basketball god sent back from the future. The amount of injuries he has had that he's played through with minimal issue is ridiculous.

the NBA will undoubetdly lose money, Kobe is the player who made NBA product better for 16 years now

plus other players will retire pretty much at the same time: Duncan, KG, Nash, Pierce. NBA won't be the same

The Kobe's "the best player in the league era" was only for about 1 or MAYBE 2 years....but yet people pretend he is some great player because he played similar to Jordan.

Maybe Howard and Nash can drag him to another championship but I'd bet my house that the Lakers won't win this year. Kobe's ego is too big and he isn't a team player...it won't work.

Doubt he will retire then. Might try a comeback like Jordan, inb4 new comparisons between the 2.

in b4 Kobe returns at 38 to join the Orlando Magic, where he now serves as GM & part owner.

You can make that argument for Ray Allen and Reggie Miller because all they do every night is shoot. They only move into the paint on defense.

Kobe is a combo guard who does it all...run the offense (Nash will take that over), shoot, slash, and plays decent D. When he feels like he cant play at a high level anymore (i.e. score) he will hang it up, instead of just shooting 3's like Miller and Allen late into his career.

he'll prob play abroad in China or Europe most likely Italy or Turkey

Dwight Howard will become the man in L.A.

That's what Kobe wants to groom him as.

I will be sad when the Mamba retires but rather see him go out on top instead of a shell of his former self.

lol stop being so naive. you do realize that these characters were made by David Stern and the NBA.

if David Stern wanted you to think Luke Walton was the GOAT, you would.

they'll just create a new batch of guys who will get 9 figure shoe deals.

Wade
Lebron
KD
Rose
CP360

The league won't miss a beat. Heat vs. OKC will be the Lakers/ Celtics of this generation.

Wade getting a little long in the tooth himself. I wouldn't count on him. The rest yeah, depending on how Rose comes back from the ACL. CP3's knees aren't the greatest so we will see. KD and Lebron should rule the league for a while with Howard, Rose, CP3 always challenging them.

I half expect Kobe to stick around to get the all-time scoring title (which Lebron or Durant will most likey break one day) Then Kobe can say he played more games, more playoff games, in more finals, has as many if not more rings than Jordan, more all-star appearences and scored more points than Jordan. Then he can make a half decent effort to argue he is better.

Then we all go back and watch what Jordan did in the 90s and remember dude was like an Alien from a different planet.
