View Full Version : Why can't college playoff games be played on campus sites?

Why do they have to play the semifinal games at bowl sites? Why can't they play them at campus sites? Are there going to be that many fans that can afford to pay for travel and game tickets for 2 games in 2/3 weeks? Is it just because the SEC and Big XII are too scared to play Ohio State or Michigan in the snow? The atmosphere at these games would be absolutely incredible, much more so than at a (not so neutral) neutral location. So how come every school besides the B1G is hell bent on playing these games at bowl sites? Is money and greed really the only factor?

This thread is relevant to my interests and beliefs. If we can travel to Texas and California, they can make the trek to the midwest occasionally...

I personally believe it is bull**** for the big 10. Considering the pac 12 has two bowl sites close by and the SEC has the other two.

March madness has neutral sites but the top teams get to play in their closest region. Have one of the playoff games in Detroit or Indianapolis. At least give fans from big 10 schools the opportunity to drive to games like the pac12 and SEC has.

The answer is pretty simple: Southern teams are scared to death at the prospect of having to play in the snow.
Their teams are largely built on speed, and snow nullifies that almost entirely.

Because it would disrupt finals when kids should be studying they instead would be out partying for football duh...

SRS tho. the BCS defies all logic. its worse than politics

or the cold alone...players worrying about tightening up or getting injured..maybe thats why the B1G produces the best NFL players

This is my biggest complaint about the new system. The atmosphere of a home, college football semi-final matchup would be off the charts. I really think someone dun goofed on this one

its only about money. those big bowl games aren't gonna let go of their money.

They also dont want a big argument over who should have home-field.

When you have two teams that finished undefeated, or two teams with 1 loss. Don't want a computer deciding home field. The computer is what made people cry out for playoff in the first place.
