So after several years battling my weight to have a shot to be successful riding bulls, I have gotten down to 174 (started riding at 305 like an idiot).

Here's a pic of me in my gear back when I first started, look at nasty fat hanging out under vest!!!! Found this the other day and was like "EWWWWWWWWWWW" lol

Bull riding has been my motivation for getting into shape, and now I have been riding well in the practice pen, and decided to finally step up to the Pro level. I had trouble getting into my first couple pro events because I didn't really understand how the text entry system worked, but now I have 2 events coming up, next weekend in Waterloo, IL, and the following weekend in Clinton, AR. Both are Championship Bull Riders (CBR, as seen on Fox Sports and previously GAC) qualifier events, which count towards standings, and will hopefully get me on the path to making the televised tour. Starting October 1st, I will also be riding in the PRCA and plan to get on their TV tour (Xtreme Bulls on GAC) as well.

I am just curious if any of you athletes on here know any companies that would be interested in sponsoring me on a financial basis? Fees for all the CBR events are $125, with my first event next weekend at $300 (have to buy my permit as well). Winning is good for about $5000 cash money, but getting there is the problem. With gas prices creeping up again, travel gets harder, especially once you add in the fact of travel AND food AND fees. It's a hard way to make an easy living, but it's been my dream since I was like 5 or 6 years old, and now I am finally getting the chance to live it!

I also have an account set up at gofundme for any members interested in helping me get down the road. It can be found here -> http://gofundme.com/benwycoff
If any of you choose to donate, will rep on sight for life.

If you have any further questions, you can post them here!

This is impressive, how did you lose the weight? Is it hard to keep it off?

Getting more woman now?

Solid diet/exercise. Did a lot of bodyweight work only until I hit 200, then started slowly adding weights in. Jumped rope daily, running, biking, etc. Log all food into MFP as soon as I eat it, watch macros, etc. Now went on creatine and holding some water, but I'm ok with that so I can get more gains.

Also took ec stack once I hit ~220

My g/f def likes it better haha. Definitely get hit on a lot more in public, even with her right next to me. The other day a waitress at sonic was obviously mirin'.

It hasn't been easy to get to this point, but I don't see how it will be hard to keep off. I didn't look at it as a diet this time, told myself I was changing my lifestyle rather than trying to diet and lose weight, and I think that one change in mentality surged my weight loss to new levels very quickly.

Im from Texas and dont know a whole lot about rodeoing stuff so I felt like less of a Texan... So I decided to sit down and watch some PBR bullriding that was on one night just so I could watch the best of the best. I went in expecting to see a shiitload of fellow white trailer trash, came out speaking portuguese. WTF the sport that I thought the white man would always have on lockdown is now dominated by Brazilians! lol

I know, but the PBR is a political joke nowadays and a lot of the top riders don't even ride there anymore. Most riders now compete in the PRCA or CBR as they (PBR) have taken all the real old school rodeo bulls away and put a bunch of small spinners into the bull pen. But can't take anything away from the Brazilians, they have crazy good work ethic if i do say so myself. One of my friends works out with a few of them and he said they do 2 hours of cardio in a football stadium every day on top of weight training.

IDK he has facebook and a account here.
However, it would probably be better if you just showed up at his house.

Cool thread man. I graduated from a very small school in Texas surrounded by ag fields and farms as far as the eye could see. Bull riding, roping, and anything rodeo/ffa was/is HUGE. I know 4-5 guys i went to school with are on some of the smaller circuits around the south.

George Strait and his brother Buddy used to competition rope around here all the time because both of George's nephews went to school with me.

I currently live in Houston but before that i lived in Corpus Christi, then Dallas, then San Antonio. (Well rounded Texan lol)

I was born and raised in a town of less than a thousand about 30 min southwest of Corpus though.

right now I'm riding about 70% since I got the weight off (April). This weekend will be first event since june. Decided that I needed to stay home and get the weight off if I wanted to really be competitive. Won a little money at some jackpots and stuff, then after the bulls I rode a couple weeks ago I decided I was ready to step up.
