Today, I entered the Chinese import-land of Costco for the first time in my life, and god damn, did they have some cheap stuff! I think this is the first time in a long time that I've bought meat outside of a butcher shop. My question is, where do you guys get your meat from? Are you a grass-fed, all-natty person, or do you just buy the cheapest, leanest meat you can find? I haven't eaten any of it yet, so I can't comment on the quality, but I'm planning to cook the 6 pounds of lean ground beef that's staring me down from my counter in a second.

I buy USDA Choice meats, in my are Sam's and Albertsons are the only two that keep Choice.

I also have a farm raised animal butchered, usually split between 2-3 families.

The backyard, pond or woods for the most part.
But if I buy meat it's from the local grocery when it's on sale/clearance

I live near U.C. Davis, and they have a butcher program there and sell some awesome meats there...if you have any universities near you that have a butcher program good cheap way to stock up....other then that ya i shop at costco, i'm pathetic i like getting the frozen bulk stuff there it helps with my portion control. If i was to get like a full pork shoulder and smoke it(pulled pork) i'd eat like half of it.....

Chicken with a lot of sodium? I get Tyson frozen chicken at times and 8 oz of it is only like 100 mg of salt.

costcos meats are fn expensive but are qualityQuality? That I can understand. Expensive? I'm not so sure. Over here (Ontario, Canada) 3 medium-sized chicken breasts are around $16. I went to costco and got eight for 26, so perhaps U.S. prices are much different.
