View Full Version : lol I can't believe I ever tried making protein shakes without a blender...

For ages I've been mixing my protein shakes by putting the milk in and then a scoop of powder, and then mixing it with a fork. It never fully mixed properly and there would always be clumps of powder, and it didn't taste very good at all.

But I finally bought a blender today and just made a protein shake with it, and it's so smooth, no clumps whatsover. And it tastes a lot better.

I guess I'm a dumbass.

I think I will. I tried that when I didn't have a blender and it also didn't mix at all.

Why use fancy gizmos like blender bottles and forks? I just place everything in a bowl and punch it till I'm satisfied.

No but really, a blender bottle works wonders. Especially for thick protein powders like casein/blends.

Also wondering why he used a fork instead of a spoon to mix it in.

Can we discuss this further please? (srs).

I think a fork would mix something up better because the prongs break it up. Yes, liquids are often associated with spoons, but in this case i think a fork would be the go to cutlery.

If you're stabbing it, sure.

But if you're stirring, which I assume the OP does, then the utensil that moves the most substance would be ideal. Things would just go through the prongs of the fork, whereas stirring with a spoon does not yield this conundrum.

I use my BlendTec for protein smoothies. With all the frozen fruit I put in there (strawberries, bananas) and my preference for super-thick drinks (you can almost eat it with a spoon), I need lots of power :D

But the fork breaks up the powder chunks as it goes through. Smaller chunks means more of it is being touched by the liquid, which makes it mix in faster.

Have the exact same one.

It is one bad ass of a machine. Worth every penny.

I have stopped shakes altogether...now I am a 100% sludge/fluff addict. I would eat the stuff even if I didn't give a **** about fitness/nutrition.

Speed with a spoon breaks up the powder chunks as well.

Or we could just use a shaker cup. :)
