Was a pretty cool thing to see, All the local community turned out to cheer the runner on. I believe it is travelling 8000 miles with 8000 individual runners and will come within 1 hour of 95% of the population of the UK.

Here in my city we had evening celebrations as it stopped in the city centre for the evening, However my wife and I didn't go to the party as we had a Push session in the gym to attend to :-)

Excellent.I saw the torch in 2000,once in the coastal town I was living, and the next morning in a village just south.I remember everyone was cheering and applauding, and I was struck by the community spirit. No matter what racial heritage, everyone was in an easygoing party mood.

Good to see you had a similar experience.

I saw it in 1980 on its way to Lake Placid. Very cool experience!

Just heard that the "Runners" get the option of purchasing their runners clothing and the torch they ran with for £200 and thought to myself I wonder if anyone is trying to sell theirs on ebay.

I did see Nixon one time, campaign of 1968 going through the main street of my town. Not quite as good as the olympic torch.....

Very cool...I saw it in 1996 and didn't think too much of it at the time (young and apathetic to stuff like this), but wish I would have taken some pictures back then.

I'm really looking forward to watching the Olympics in London. I think they'll do a great job.

When the Summer Olympics were in the U.S. in 1984 and again in 1996, the torch relay passed within a few blocks of my house both times. In '84 I lived in small town Oklahoma, and in '96 I lived in suburban Kansas City.

I applied to be a torch runner for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games but unfortunately was not chosen. That would have been a huge dream come true...I was actually pretty disappointed...

I think it was 1948 the last time we hosted the olympics so I doubt I'll see that again in my lifetime. I'm hoping we do the event proud I know it has been a long time in the making and many Millions of £ss

Nice pics! Isn't the mayor of london a key coordinator for the Olympics. I'm really impressed with him.
