After drifting through training for far too long I decided that it's time for me to do this properly and do some bulking. However, after calculating how much protein (257g) and Carbs (360g) I need, and trying to reach those numbers I have failed miserably. I sit here at 20:15 havinf only managed to get 190g of protein and 280g of carbs in today, and I am stuffed and producing farts that could see me on trial for war crimes.

How can I up my appetite? Or is it just a case of upping the amount I eat gradually?

This is speculation only, but I'd say your protein is too high. You also neglected to calculate fat. Have you read the sticky for calculating calories and macronutrients yet?

If not please do so here!

Judging by your question I agree with nobrah and suspect you should start with that sticky. Come back with any questions you may have. GL

Thanks guys, I didn't calculate it from there no, I did it from an article on the main site regarding clean bulking. It didn't mention Fat on there but after reading the sticky it informs me that I need 156g of Fat. Yeah... I got nowhere near that.

I think you guys are probably right regarding me focusing too much on protein. It's just been (wrongly) drilled into me that that's the right way to do things. One issue is that I live an insanely busy life (60 hours of work a week) and only really sit down to eat for dinner. The rest of my meals are oats and whey, whey, whey, and whey.

Any advice on good meals I can pre-prepare and eat on the move? Thanks again.

How much do you weigh, how tall are you, what's your estimated BMR and TDEE?

Assuming I've done this right, my BMR is 1607 and my TEE is 2571.

I am 5'10" and weigh 78kg

Caloric intake should be 110% to 120% of TDEE to start, with monitoring of progress and adjustments biweekly.

Protein intake should be 150 grams per day and dietary fat intake should be 80 grams, with the remainder of your calories composed from your preferred mix of carbs and additional protein and fat.

That seems far more achievable. Much appreciated. Feck knows how the calculation tool on the main site came up with the figures it chucked at me.

Thanks again.
