Because in the end, that's what really matters. lol

96...that's a good long life. My grandfather is currently 89, and still running around like he's 50. He's gotten a little crazy in his old age, but he's still doing well considering. I can only pray that I have that kind of health and life.

LOL, no... That was Allan Melvin, who played Sam the butcher on Brady Bunch. He died years ago. He was also Sgt. Hackett (I think) on Bilko.

96, damn. Sad but still amazing.

edit, Okay, it was Sgt. Hacker...

Am I that old that I did not think of anything BUT "Pettycoat Junction" and "green acres"? When I read the title I did not even make that connection that other posters were making of expecting hooters. Lol....eventually I had to reread the title and than it hit me what most of you young' uns were thinking about.

I loved Petticoat Junction, which started before Green Acres. We watched it in reruns after school. I always thought Hooterville was a reference to the hooters on the three girls, Betty Jo, Bobbie Jo and Billy Jo. I don't know if hooters was a term for boobies in the 60's, but it seems to make sense. The opening credits showed them swimming in the water tank at about the time the theme song said "lots of curves, you bet... even more when you get... to the Junction."

I thou hooterville was in reference to the train. The hooterville cannonball?

Green Acres is the place to be!
Fa-a-a-rm livin' is the life for me!
Land spreadin' out so far and wide!
Keep Manhattan, just give me the countryside!

Sad day, but a long, full life. Been watching them on Hulu, AND I already heard the news, so of course I thought only of the show. As Lisa would say, "Ve'll all miss you in Hootersville, dahling!"

Well, now you done gone and made me Google it. According to Wikipedia, Hooterville was founded by Horace Hooter in 1868. I had no idea that it was a real town.

Repped for knowing the words to Petticoat Junction. About all I could remember was "there's a little hotel called the Shady Rest at the Junction, Petticoat Junction"
