How is this an advantage for the higher seed exactly?

If you assume that both teams win all their home games, then the higher seed has two high pressure elimination games.

Theoretically, if the lower seed wins game 1 or 2, it could never get back to the higher seeds home court.

Yeah, but wouldn't you almost rather be the lower seed in that scenario?

If you do your job and win your home games, you put all the pressure in the world on the higher seed in games 6 and 7.

this...if u win the first 2 you can still lose the next 3 on the road and ur still coming home for the last 2.

Yeah, I guess you could look at it that way.

If I'm a fan of the Thunder though, those first 2 games are almost must wins.

Heat need to split the first two. If we can go back to OKC up 3-2, we would have a huge advantage

Exactly. I understand that both games are in OKC, but it puts all of the pressure on OKC in Game 6. They're a young team with no finals experience outside of Fisher. I'd like the Heat's chances in that scenario.

da ****??

anyway my theory is they do it so the home team (generally favorite) has a better chance of winning the series on their home town floor. makes for much more excitement and probably just as much money. aka 60,000 fans exit arena and proceed to spend copious amounts of money at the arenas or surrounding bars/team shops.

okla will win. the structure will favour them as they will take game 1 an 2 then they have 3 games without travel which to win 1. All you miami fans are gona get so farkin sad when you see durant drop 30+ a night on you. lol durant is taller than your whole team.

should be one game on sunday at some random arena and they should make it a yearly event with a huge halftime show

The theory is that it is difficult for a team to win 3 games in a row, even at home. So the higher seed has a good chance of going up 2-0 and then stealing 1 of those 3 road games to take a commanding lead.

should be 7-0 IMO. you can't get a better record in a poverty conference, you deserve no home games.

It just means OKC will take this in 6 instead of 5, cause they're not losing a home game like Miami is gonna

I agree...After OKC ran through that weak western conference that plays no defense the Heat should play all 7 at home...Glad you guys agree

So much Miami hate in this thread.

What are you all going do when Miami takes the series in 6?

HCA is overrated in the Finals.

Doesn't affect great players. Jordan/Kobe were never phased by it.

Its not that way for basketball reasons, it's actually that way because in the past it was needed for traveling and accommodation reasons for the media. It's not suppose to be an advantage for the higher seed, the advantage is having 4 home games. Every year they talk about changing it but never do. Just like re-seeding every round.

Hardbody316

OKC has the loudest arena with the craziest fans ive seen since the celtics fans back in the 80s..

its like every single phucking person wears that damn shirt they pass out while the other arenas maybe get 80% to wear what they pass out..its gonna be impossible for the opposing team to be able to hear **** while they are trying to call plays or play defense

Da phuck at all these theories on why they made it 2-3-2.

You guys realize it's for travel purposes, right? Because there's a chance that the teams would have to take 6 hour flights every other day if they went with the regular format. This way they only have to travel twice.

This is what I have always thought, in addition to traveling.

In a perfect world it would alternate every game.

2-3-2 is actually a definitive advantage for the higher seed over 2-2-1-1-1.
