scouting report of lillard ?

I can't wait to see TRob play in the NBA
Projection Top 5 Pick

Positives
Long, athletic big man
Very physical
Excellent rebounder
Explosive leaper
Strong, NBA body
Tough defender
Dramatically improved offensive game

Negatives
A bit undersized for his position
Can sometimes get distracted with his perimeter game

Kansas power forward Thomas Robinson is the latest to college junior to decide to go pro, according to his coach, Bill Self.

The decision is really a no-brainer for him. Robinson was in serious consideration for college player of the year all season. He's dramatically improved in every facet of his game. While he still needs some polish, what college player doesn't?

Many scouts believe Robinson is one of the most NBA-ready players in the draft. What Robinson should provide right away are athleticism, toughness, an NBA-ready body and a motor that won't quit on both ends of the floor. He's been a monster rebounder for KU and is aggressive looking for his shot around the rim.

Robinson surprised scouts this year with his ball handling ability and a solid midrange jump shot. He's not afraid to get the ball at the top of the key and create his shot there. His quickness for a player his size and his explosive leaping ability make him a formidable threat offensively down the road.

Scouts know that Robinson can handle adversity. He lost his grandmother, grandfather and mother in the span of a few weeks during his sophomore year and stoically played through it. That sort of mental toughness will come in handy at the next level.

This season he took a lightly regarded KU team and carried it all the way to the NCAA championship game. That sort of leadership and toughness are coveted at the next level.

The biggest question mark concerning Robinson has to do with his height. Many scouts believe that he's really around 6-foot-7, despite that he measured around 6-10 at LeBron James' camp last summer and is listed at 6-9 at KU. At times he does seem to struggle with length.

A great measurement during the official NBA pre-draft camp could quell the final doubts teams have about him. Yes, they worry about his ability to pass out of double-teams and don't want him to fall in love with his perimeter game. But for the most part, the height issue is the biggest and only concern scouts have.

Robinson is currently ranked No. 4 on our Big Board and is projected to go No. 3 to the New Orleans Hornets in our Lottery Mock Draft. His primary competition right now comes from UConn's Andre Drummond. While Drummond hasn't been nearly as productive as Robinson, he's perceived to be several inches taller. If Robinson measures 6-10 at the pre-draft camp, he should be a lock to go anywhere from No. 2 to No. 4 on draft night.

scouting report of lillard ?

Projection Top 10 Pick

Positives
Scoring point guard
Excellent penetrator
Great perimeter game with deep range
Good athlete with good lateral quickness
Strong, physical player
Rarely makes mistakes
Super efficient for a player with his usage rate
Hard worker
High basketball IQ

Negatives
Needs to improve his floor vision

Apr 3 Update: Lillard has declared for the 2012 NBA Draft. Lillard was the second-leading scorer in college basketball this season and had the second-highest PER. He played for a small school, but the more NBA teams began scouting him, the more they believed he was a big-time talent. While he's been primarily a scorer in college, scouts believe he can make the transition to the point in the NBA. I expect him to be the first or second point guard off the board, going somewhere between 8 and 14.

Mar 9 Update: Lillard is the highest-ranked prospect on our Big Board to not make it to the tournament. Luckily for him, he packed the house with NBA scouts for the Big Sky final against Montana and didn't disappoint. Lillard had 29 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. With the exception of a weird stretch at the start of the second half where he disappeared for a few minutes, Lillard was in attack mode all night and showed off his strengths attacking the rim. When we moved him into the lottery in mid-February, there were still plenty of skeptics. Interestingly, a few weeks later, very few scouts or GMs remain unconvinced. Virtually every source I speak with has Lillard ranked as a lottery pick. The Jazz and Suns are obvious landing spots for him come draft night. Unless he really disappoints during workouts, I think Lillard is going to go high.

Terrence Ross and Tony Wroten please.

Terrence Ross will be a consistent scorer in the league.

Wroten is so immature still and will have to develop his pg skills or will just be another undersized scorer. He's able to drive at will and get to his spots on the floor. But I hated this guy's disposition and the way he carried himself the entire time he was at UW. Definitely boom or bust.

Ross:
Late Lottery Pick
Positives

Explosive athlete
Excellent shooter with range
Very good leaper
Can get to the basket with a quick first step

Negatives

Needs to improve his handle, shot selection
Needs to add an in-between game
Can sometime overly defer to teammates
Needs to add strength

May 18 Update: Ross hasn't been mentioned in the same rarified air as some of the other elite 2-guard prospects, but several GMs say that's a big mistake. "That Washington team was pretty dysfunctional this year and I think it hid, at times, what Ross is capable of," said one GM. "He's got the size, athletic ability and he can really, really shoot the ball. I think when he gets into workouts with [Jeremy] Lamb, [Dion] Waiters and [Austin] Rivers, he's going to surprise a lot of people. I'm not sure he's not the best 2 guard on the board. Take him away from Washington and I think he's going to be an elite prospect."

Apr 1 Update: Ross came into the season with a lot of hype, but for the most part, had an up and down season. He finished the season strong however, stringing together a number of big games for Washington in the NIT. Ross has the athletic ability scouts are looking for in a two guard and he's proved to be a solid shooter. He can be turnover prone and can sometimes have questionable shot selection, but overall he's one of the best guard prospects in this draft. He's a potential late-lottery- to mid-first-round pick.

Wroten:
Mid-First Round Pick
Positives

Powerful combo guard
Excellent court vision
Can be a spectacular passer
Powerful finisher at the basket
Good athlete

Negatives

Needs to dramatically improve his jump shot
Can be reckless at times
Questionable shot selection
Apr 3 Update: Wroten is one of the draft's biggest enigmas. On pure talent, he's a Top 5 pick, a big point guard with excellent athleticism and a power game that gets him to the basket at will. He can also be an amazing passer and makes electric plays.

However, Wroten really struggles as a shooter, plays out of control, is turnover prone and doesn't seem to make his teammates better. While some scouts believe he's the second coming of Gary Payton, others think the risk will outweigh the reward. He can go anywhere from the late lottery to the early second round.

Mar 9 Update: Wroten, for 39 minutes, was having the game of his life in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament. But in the final 20 seconds of the game, Wroten missed four consecutive free throws that might have cost Washington the win against Oregon State. So goes the life for Wroten, who often times looks like a high lottery pick and other times like a NBDL special in the same game. The talent is undeniable. But can he lead a team? Will he develop a jump shot? Can he be coached and play under control?

If a team takes a chance on him and develops him, he could be the steal of the draft, wherever he's taken. But he also poses a huge risk -- sort of the DeMarcus Cousins of point guards.

grizz101
05-29-2012, 02:40 PM
Ezeli and Melo please
Ezeli:
Late First Round Pick
Positives

Great size, long arms
Excellent shot blocker
Good offensive rebounder
Quick for a big man
Emerging offensive game
Runs the floor well for a big man

Negatives

Lacks basketball IQ
Needs to improve post moves
Can be passive at times

May 25 Update: Ezeli looked, for the first time since the start of the college season, healthy and explosive again at the Santa Barbara workout. These types of workouts rarely showcase big men. But Ezeli moved well, played with power and looked like he was in terrific shape. Given his size and the dearth of big men in the draft, he too has a good shot at the first round.

Melo:
Late First Round Pick
Positives

Big, physical center
Long arms, pretty mobile
Good rebounder and shot blocker
Tough defender

Negatives

Very, very raw offensively
Weak basketball IQ

Mar 31 Update: Melo has the potential to be a difference maker right away in the NBA as a shot blocker. He also has good mobility for a big and is a decent rebounder. While he showed dramatic improvement between his freshman and sophomore years, he is still very raw offensively and can disappear for long stretches. He's going to be a project for whoever drafts him. Look for Melo to go somewhere in the late first round.

they haven't updated his scouting report in 2 years. IMO his problem is lack of upside

FUAAARK I can honestly say this will be the best draft class since 2003. If there's one good thing the Lockout did it's make a lot of the star college players stay in school 1 more year (ie: Barnes, Sullinger, etc). So now there's multiple classes kinda funneled into one big class.

Thanks for the info on TRob, what about Tyshawn Taylor?

Projection Late First Round Pick

Positives
Combo guard
Excellent quickness and speed
Very quick first step
Great athlete
Explosive leaper
High basketball IQ
Good defender with quick hands

Negatives
Still developing a consistent jumper
Needs to add range to his jumper
Needs to improve ball handling
Has had some disciplinary issues at Kansas

Mar 30 Update: If Taylor showed any consistency as a decision-maker running the Jayhawks, he'd go 20 to 30 spots higher in the draft. He's blessed with great size (listed 6-3) and quickness for his position. He can be a lockdown defender and has shot the ball much better this season. When he's on, Kansas is very tough to beat. But Taylor is also prone to making critical mistakes, costly turnovers and boneheaded shots virtually every game. Someone will take him based on the raw talent, but will he be a nightmare for his next coach?
