How long do you guys usually bulk for? Do you just go by a certain amount of weight gained? Is it better to do a long bulk where you add like 20+ pounds or so? Or is it better to add 10-15 pounds and then get rid of any added fat and then bulk again? From doing some reading on here it seems a lot of you guys bulk and cut over and over is this true? What's the reason for that?

It's extremely variable and dependent on the individual's specific situation.

Yeah that makes sense. Okay well I guess in my situation. Starting weight is 160 and height is 6'1". Starting body fat is around 10-12%. Not sure if I should bulk until 180,190,200 and then do a cut. I would imagine the cut is obviously easier when you have less fat to get rid of.

Edit: I guess what I'm assuming is there will be a point where you should not bulk any further. One wouldn't wants become obese from a bulk and then have to lose so much fat to get back down in 10% Bf range.

Bulk until the soon of reaching your goal amount of lean body mass or until you put on more body fat than you're confortable carrying.

I'm on a bulk for life diet, with cuts thrown in their for contests. I prefer the terms build muscle or lose fat though.

Must be nice! I think I'll shoot for 190 and then cut down to 7-10% bf.

I did a cut for 7 months, losing 50 lbs and ended up at 9% bf (240-190). Then I bulked for 5 months, gained 25 lbs. (190-215: Yeah, I did it wrong :P ). Just finishing up my last cut for 3 months and lost 21 lbs. at 7% bf (215-194).

Now I am going to do a slight surplus to maintain low bf.

I actually did the same thing! I went from 245 to 160 and did lift weights. I lost so much muscle during that process it's pathetic. I did not know what I was doing. Now I am freaking diary of a whimpy kid over here. So now I'm trying to get my muscle back.
