Ok so I know for bulking you want to aim for about .5 to 1pound a week for safe bulking with out gaining to much excess fat, but was curious let's say you have a man that needs 2000 calories a day to maintain and hes bulking so he ups it by 500 calories so he has 2500 calories. Do you just go with that Intel maybe one or two weeks go,he's only gained 1 lb but nothing more, so he should up calories again? so to sum it up

"Surplus>wait Intel you don't see gains anymore> Add more to the surplus?"

I think its best you keep calories at say 2500 for 3 weeks then adjust as you go, You can't really tell much after a week/or two

Why would you increase them if gaining 1lb in 2 weeks? That's perfect

Increase calories once weight gain stalls

yeah, and didn't you sort of know the answer to your question when you said it's good to aim for .5-1 lb / week?
