WVU = Final Four couple seasons back in Men's basketball

Relatively recent football success, including BCS bowls

TCU = Just came off a Rose Bowl

Mizzou = ...................

TAMU = .................................................. ..........................

In terms of number of fans and academics, yes. In terms of actual football success, no.

we're replacing two teams who have never won a BCS bowl with two teams who have won 3 between them. A&M hasnt been in the big 12 championship since 1998 and Mizzou has never won the big 12.

Strong knowledge of recent accomplishments by the four schools.
Hell, WVU alone has more success in the past decade than both TAMU and Mizzou combined in both big money sports.

strong these. Mizzou and Tamu are pretty much jokes and barely competed in the Big12. In most peoples eyes that actually watch CFB, WVU/TCU are large upgrades for the conference.

I'd argue the conference traded 4 bad programs for 2 good ones. Nebraska is the only one you could argue, but TCU and WVU have been better this last decade.

It's funny how the Big 12 actually got stronger while the SEC added some fresh meat.

the sec is usually top heavy anyway, despite what the nuthuggers say.

Barely even compete, let alone battle for a CG. More of the time S.Carolina and Georgia are weak as well. Generally 4 solid teams per year, the rest are wins. Just like the rest of the conferences. The difference comes in those top 2 teams in the SEC tend to be the best teams in the country(ie. LSU/Bama this year).

That's why the SEC homerism is so irritating, but I will admit it does give me a rooting interest in the title game.

In terms of academics, yes downgrade.

But in sports, lol no. WVU basketball > TA&M and Mizzou bball.

Recently, WVU football > TA&M and Mizzou football. BCS bowls and the winningest program in the country that hasnt won a NC.

And TCU recently has been very dominant. Also a BCS win, the Rose Bowl no less, and good baseball program. Id say the Big12 did just fine for itself

Not even comparable to the other 4.

Nothing about Tennessee is an "easy win" like the other 4 schools.

They are "easy wins" to us.

We havent competed the last 3 years due to Fulmer's poor recruiting & then Kiffin's class imploding.

UT & Georgia are favorites to win the SEC-E next season.

NCAA D1a needs to get over themselves and just have a playoff already.

These super conferences are nothing more than a response to getting more money into the respective conferences through the bowl system.
