View Full Version : About the quality of oats' protein

Hi,

I'm calculating my protein intake per meal and I have a problem:

I want to take around 28-30gr of protein in the breakfast, that's maybe 6-7 egg whites.
The problem is when I add my oats for the carbs, they also contain protein (16gr of protein in my portion of 120gr!). Should I count those proteins as valid ones or they are not as rich in aminoacids as they should be to count them?

In other words, should I eat less egg whites if I eat oats in the morning?

Thanks,
Echomilo

Yes you count that protein.

Why can you only have a certain amount per meal?

Thanks everyone, then I'll take a few less egg whites just so everything matches.

lol what? oats provide an incomplete source of protein, but its still protein, count it

I wanna take around 2.5 gr of protein/day. divided in 6 meals is 28-30 gr of protein.
I'm elaborating some breakfast examples just so I can use them to help me with the measures.
I know there is no problem (an no difference whatsoever) taking 2 egg withes more/less, I just want to stick to the plan as much as I can.

So here comes the question, should I reduce my egg whites intake because of the oats' protein?

I'm not new in the sport, it's just the first time that I'm planning my diet so strictly.

Thanks again and congratulations for the forum!!

If meal frequency was relevant people and cultures who only eat 1 meal a day would be dead and non existent.
However that is not the case for a few months I followed the brotastic argument of eating 6+ meals a day back in 2005... I didn't see any changes at all in my metabolism. For the past month I have only been able to eat 1 meal a day guess what? No change in my metabolism if I eat 3,5k over my maintenance I gain 1 pound if I eat 3,5k under my maintenance I lose 1 pound.

Stop following brotastic arguments and read the forum stickies.

My question was why do you eat so many times a day.
My suggestion was not you should only eat one time a day.
You are a failtard bro.
Again read the stickies.
Meal frequency is total broscience.

he's saying you can eat however many meals you want as long as it fits your macros. If you enjoy eating 6 meals then keep doing but don't do it because you think it will help you lose weight faster because it won't.

ok, let's say I divide my calorie intake in less than 6 meals.
6 meals is not that big deal tough:
BREAKFAST
workout
POSTWORKOUT
LUNCH
SNACK
DINNER
SNACK BEFORE BED

but ok, I can combine the dinner and the snack before bed. i don't know in the US, but here in Spain regular people eats 5 time per day.
so lets say i need 35-36 gr of protein per meal now and let's come back to the question
thanks!

What's being said here is that meal timing is largely irrelevant for body composition. You can eat any amount of meals that you prefer, and there is no need to evenly spread out your protein evenly over the meals. All that matters is that you hit your desired amount of protein at the end of the day. Hope that makes sense
