Just saw next year will be his 5th on the ballot, no clue why though?

Only reason I can think of would be that he pissed off a lot of sports writers during his time in the NFL.

There are a whole bunch of unwritten rules and policies when it comes to gaining enshrinement in football's hall of fame. Bunch of nonsense about not watering down the talent so they make players wait even though they are obviously qualified and definitely should be in. So instead of allowing locks in the hall as soon as they are eligible they essentially make most of them stand in a line and wait.

This is really the only reason. I can see him not being first ballot but come on, he needs to get in.

Chris Carter
Tim Brown
Curtis Martin
Bill Parcells
Willie Roaf
Cortez Kennedy
Andre Reed

Actually
I really wonder why they only let in a certain amount of WR's each time.

you're crazy. Look how many receptions he has had, the guy was a monster and a well trusted go to WR. Put up a bunch of 1000+ yard seasons with a ton of multi digit TD numbers. I guess haters gonna hate

The real argument will come with what happens with Torry Holt & Isaac Bruce.

Objectively, look at their numbers. That should be HOF worthy + a Super Bowl ring for both.

Why not let them in? You're talking about some of the best WRs we have had the honor of seeing play. Of course one can say it was the Rams system but both Holt and Bruce put up consistent outstanding numbers. They each played specific roles as well and I wouldn't object to either of them. Maybe that opens the door to the whole "this isn't the hall of very good players, this is the hall of fame" discussion but I would like to see them get in. I'm a Jets fan so no homer here

If Art Monk can somehow get in, then Cris Carter should as well. He was consistently a great player throughout the 90s, always being at least top 5, which can't really be said about guys like Art Monk.*

I think the only thing holding him back is his lack of any Superbowls, or taking over his team in playoff moments to win games.*

He'll get in at some point. There have been some really strong classes lately. It doesn't help him that he was kind of a dick early in his career and his first 6 years weren't that great.

He'll get in. So will Tim Brown and Curtis Martin, but I think based on his "extracurricular activities" Reed will have a really tough time.

Curtis Martin not being in is a bigger joke. *Dude wasn't only one of the best ever, but was pretty much the very definition of a class act in sports. *If he doesn't make it in in the the next ballot or the one after, then the NFL be trolling.
