Okay so Oakland goes 8-8 and all of a sudden they are an AFC championship caliber team? If Oakland can win their division i certainly think they can reach HIGHER THAN THE AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME BOYS.

Wanna hear my prediction? Oakland -> Super Bowl 46 baby. Zach Miller wants to create a bidding war? Sign up Kevin Boss, Lofa Tatupu, and Malcom Floyd!

Lol, the reason why I said that Oakland was going to headline Super Bowl 46 was that Mike Silver is predicting Oakland to make the AFC Championship Game. Of course I hope Oakland makes it but in reality the best thing Oakland can do right now is possibly win their division and hopefully make a deep run in the playoffs.

Hmm? Not only did the Raiders went undefeated in their division, they had a few blow ups such as the missed 32+ yard field goal against the Arizona Cardinals and the two close losses against Jacksonville and Indianapolis. I wouldn't think of Oakland as a joke compared to the year's before.

I mean look at the Bears. They made the NFC championship game last year and they are really not a great team.

AFC championship is pretty bold to say, especially with steelers, colts, jets, pats, and ravens still going strong. I feel that the AFC west will come down to either the Raiders or the Chiefs, with the Chargers 1 or 2 games behind because they always choke and play grabass for the 1st half of the season. And denver bringing up the rear at about 5-11.

I can honestly say im happy the raiders got their **** together, i may wish plague upon their fans, but at least we'll get some good games out of it. its just not the same feeling when you beat the chargers or broncos.

Yes, thank you for reminding everybody who the Raiders defeated last season. And thank you for realizing I was being sarcastic about my comment of the Raiders going to the Super Bowl. My point of the Raiders going to the Super Bowl was that if Mike Silver predicts a team to go to the AFC Championship then that team should be good enough to "get back to the Super Bowl game this year".

Sure, Oakland lost to cupcake teams last season but need I remind you they also lost to the Colts in a valiant effort that would of kept their playoff hopes alive? Unlike the San Diego Chargers who got dismantled by the lowly Cincinnati Bengals in their final chances of making the playoffs.

Like i've said before, in reality I believe that the Raiders are contenders in the AFC West and if they win that division then *hopefully* they make a deep run in the playoffs just like the Chicago Bears did.

Hey, maybe they might even win a wildcard game just like what the Seattle Seahawks achieved.

hellmuth316

By the way, since you're reminding everyone about all the teams that the Raiders defeated/lost to, let's talk about the Chargers last year.

brb lose to cupcake teams such as the Raiders (in your opinion), Seahawks, Rams, and Bengals? The only teams that you guys defeated that had a winning record was versus the Colts and the Chiefs.

Hey, remember when the Raiders swept the Chiefs too? Oakland wasn't the only team in the AFC West who played terrible divisions.

As a Raiders fan you should know better than anyone what it's like to have a terrible team.

Age: 18. Let's say you became a legitimate Raiders fan when you were 12, which would have been 2005.
Since that time, the Raiders have won 28 games, and lost 68. That could be the shttiest streak since the merger save the buccs earlier futility, but I'm too lazy to do anymore research.

You were barely out of kindergarten when the Raiders were at the hieght of their success in your lifetime, which was getting their asses absolutely handed to them in a superbowl. A drubbing they received at the hands the same buccs I mentioned.

Yes, I know what's it like to follow a terrible team. I started watching football in 2001 which was the year Jerry Rice was signed by the Raiders. That year Oakland lost because of a BS tuck rule versus the Patriots and the year after the Raiders made the Super Bowl and got their butt kicks by the #1 defense in the NFL (Tampa Bay). Then in 2004 Rich Gannon suffered a career ending injury and Kerry Collins took over.

etc etc etc randy moss comes in daunte comes in etc etc you know the dealio.

And no, I wasn't out of Kindergarten when the Raiders lost to the Buccaneers, you are ****ing hilarious tho for saying that. BTW, in that same Super Bowl game the Raiders started picking up the slack and for a second I thought they were going to make a comeback till Jerry Rice's TD was deemed out of bounds.

You are just mad that you are a Broncos fan and the biggest success they had in this past decade was losing to the Colts every single time in the playoffs. LOL! And now they are in rebuild mode and will continue to be the lesser team in the AFC West for years to come.

You weren't out of kindergarten by age 10? Strong raiders fan fulfilling stereotypes.
In 2005 Denver handed Tom Brady and Belichick their 1st Playoff loss en route to an AFC Championship game they lost to the eventual champion Steelers. I would say that's a greater success than the raiders finally reaching .500 after 7 seasons of winning 5 games or less.

Lettuce be reality, you can claim you were cognizant of the glory years of Oakland winning the division and getting blown out in the playoffs for 3 years when you were 7 through 9 years old, but you weren't.

Now that Zach Miller is gone, you can make a case that they will have no passing game this season. However, Glass Schilens is 100% healthy and David Ausberry is a ballin' WR-> turned TE who I hope put on more lbs so he can be a blocking tight end as well. Louis Murphy is also entering his third season and he's a solid WR. Don't forget dat dere speed in Jacoby Ford who made incredible catches all season long last year and DHB who better finally live up to his 1st round draft status considering he's been working with Campbell before the lockout ended.

lmao where did I ever claim denver isn't a terrible team right now? I was simply pointing out if anyone knows what years upon years of terrible football looks like, it would be an 18 year old raider fan.

I have no problem acknowledging that at this point in time oakland>denver. But what's more laughable, a qb controversy between kyle orton and tim tebow, or kyle boller and jason campbell? Remember, you guys don't have doc b anymore.

Kyle Boller and Trent Edwards are both backups and won't be fighting for Campbell's starting QB job. I'm laughing at the Broncos because they failed to get rid of Orton and now they have to start Kyle Orton instead of Tim Tebow. However, it's great for the fans because I think you guys would rather have Orton start than Tebow since he's been under performing in training camp (so i've heard).

How am I acting like the Raiders have had more than one winning season since "I turned 10 years old?" FWIW they had two.

Hmm, maybe I'm not remembering correctly. Was Campbell hurt or benched when Grad came in last year? If he was hurt, then my bad.
I think denver valued orton a little higher than other teams did, so it was either get a 4-5 round pick next year for orton now, or wait and see how he did this year. It's still a business, and if they win with orton, it puts asses in the seats, so I can understand that.

My point is, you are thumping your chest like the raiders are a lot better than their recent success. Finally reaching .500 again is great for a team like the raiders, but they have questionable offense and just lost their best player.
oakland's last winning season before last year was 2002, if you are 18, you were likely born in 1993 and turned 10 in 2003. Hence, this would be their 1st winning season since you turned 10. This is a stupid argument that's going nowhere. Good luck with your fandom goals in 2011.

Campbell was benched. But it's a solid fact that he will start all 16 games in this season unless the Raiders are like 3-10 and decide to let whoever's the second string play the rest of the season. Hue Jackson has faith in Campbell, and hopefully he wins over some Raider fans who liked Gradkowski far more. Lol I'm surprised the Orton deal to the Dolphins collapsed because it was the only place he can go to and instead the Dolphins grab Matt Moore?

I'm thumping my chest because i'm excited for this season. Like I said before, I believe the Raiders are contenders in the AFC WEST. We all know that division is up for grabs and whoever wins can certainly make a deep run in the playoffs.

And yeah you're right, I didn't read the age part, I originally thought you were talking about how many winning seasons the Raiders had in the past decade. Last year was not a winning season, however, since the Raiders went 8-8 it wasn't a losing season as well which I can accept.
