Whenever I read an interview from a bodybuilder or something, they always stress how important nutrition is. However in the past few months of my bulk, 95% of my diet has been take-away, pizza, whole milk and fry-ups, but I'm still making gains without any excessive bodyfat. Is it really that important where you get your calories? I've also bulked for a few months on almost nothing but lean meats like steak and lots of eggs and veg etc. but notice no difference in the gains I make or my composition.

Macros matter much, much more that their sources. Your body knows nutrients, not foods, and certainly not whether they're "clean".

Haha, long ago I clean bulked on mostly 40s of beer and McDonalds, bowls of kids cereal, cup o noodles, and 4 for $1 frozen burritos. But that was long before the magazines told me I could only do it by eating clean.

How long was that bulk over? Those are impressive gains.
