MANNY Pacquiao’s defense of his World Boxing Organization welterweight crown against Shane Mosley last May 7 (May 8 in Manila) in Las Vegas could gross a minimum 1.3 million pay-per-view buys, the Filipino boxing star’s best result in a decade.

Initial reports coming from Top Rank Promotions said the 12-round battle, which Pacquiao won by unanimous decision, could generate a maximum of 1.4 million buys.

At $54.99 per PPV buy, the fight would generate at least $70 million in revenues.

"It was a very successful promotion," Arum said. "Manny doing 1.3, 1.4 million buys is outstanding."

If the final PPV buys reach 1.3 million, it would be Pacquiao’s biggest take since his fight with Oscar de la Hoya in 2008 which generated 1.25 millions buys.

Except for his fight with Ghana’s Joshua Clottey, Pacquiao has consistently generated over one million buys during his last four fights

The Pacquiao-Mosley fight also drew $8,882,600 in live gate receipts that will go into the record books as the 14th-highest grossing bout in Nevada’s boxing history. Officially, 15,422 tickets were sold.

Shows you how strong the drawing power of boxing fights are compared to UFC events.
Can you imagine GSP/Hughes and an undercard of Strikeforce Challengers getting 1.2 mil buys?
