I feel stupid for asking it, but just got to ask.

Is there a major difference other than the rate at which one burns and the filling effect?

Do you feel more full off of a protein shake rather than eating 8 oz. of chicken?

I prefer solid meals because they keep me full for a longer period of time.. Shakes usualy only hold my hunger down for an hour or so, which isnt nessasarily a bad thing in the offseason.. incorporate both into your diet IMO

Generally speaking, satiety is higher with solid foods than with liquid sources of nutrition when of equal macronutrient content.

The rate at which you "burn" energy is not meaningfully couple with the viscosity of your meals.

Can't beat the pleasure you get off eating a solid meal rather than just gulping back a shake in seconds.

^This!

Other than that, Liquid calories = Solid calories.

(inb4 TEF of chewing makes a tiny difference... I don't care)

Rather eat than drink my calories.

Comes down to personal preference and sometimes convenience is a factor.

I would rather eat a hot meal opposed to a shake of equal nutritional value for the sake of satiety :)

Exactly, whole foods satisfy your hunger better then protein shakes, even if you are getting the same nutrients from both
