In for most disappointing team of the year.

Braves take NL East, Padres take west and Rockies take WC.

You heard it here first. In for the lulz in Sep/Oct

Bookmarked.

And lol @ the Padres taking the NL West.

Not sure if serious...

Why, because of one game of Cole Hamels and his 25 ERA?

I picked Cole Hamels for my fantasy team. Having second thoughts...

It's way to early in the year to make that assumption. The Mets have always owned Cole Hamels. The Phillies will compete, there is no doubt about that. This is coming from a Mets fan BTW.

ITT: Strong overreaction by OP to the Phillies 1st loss due to Hamels pitching very poorly

it's not how you start, but how you finish. The NL east should know that by now.

OP acting like hes edgy. Every dumb **** writer trying to be different out there is saying the same thing.

Cole's command his iffy right now. Same thing happened last year. He ended the year as the best pitcher in the NL.

2nd half stats

2.25 ERA 1.003 WHIP 96IP 104k 22bb .663 OPS against

The only other argument that the other most dominant pitcher in the 2nd half was Roy Oswalt.

Cole was one of the best in NL last year and had maybe the best finish of any pitcher

Only reason is record wasn't better is because we were on the losing end of a few 1-0 2-0 2-1 games that he started

Phillies were only hyped right after the cliff lee signing, then a couple months went by and everyone realized their lineup was terrible/they had tough competition with Atlanta in that division and then they had some key injuries.

Red sox meanwhile have been hyped as fukk ever since they got gonzalez and overpaid carl crawfid, acting like this is the best lineup since the '27 Yankees.

yeah their lineup is terrible.. wtf are you smoking? just because chase utley is out and werthless is gone doesn't mean they are terrible.. this is a lineup that scored the 2nd highest number of runs in the NL last year.. retard..

Lineup isn't "terrible".

It's still a good offense...just not as good as it was in years past.

I get you're a phillies fan but let's be real here. Werth is a huge loss and Utley is an even bigger loss (particularly defensively). Rollins is older and far from his mvp form (and he's hitting third srsly??). and the entire backend of the lineup is basically a bunch of replacement players. I like victorino but feel like he never lives up to his potential. Howard can carry the team for a month or two but not the whole year. This lineup won't score close to as many runs as last year, just sayin

Rollins got off to a fast start this year...helps tremendously

Werth is not a huge loss. He was the least clutch person in the lineup last year. He was .186 with RISP last year. Totally Werthless player. His HRs came from solo shots when they were down by 4 runs in the ninth.

Utley will be back before the AS break.

Rollins is great in the third spot. This is especially good for Howard since he will get more fastballs. Rollins is still the most sure-handed SS in the game.

backend: Ibanez lost a bunch of weight because he wants to keep his job. So far so good. Francisco has been solid so far, but his Jimmy Rollin-like attitude towards hitting will catch up to him eventually. Chooch is a solid hitter. Valdez is a terrible hitter.

I don't think you should judge a team you know nothing about other than their stats. You don't know what you are talking about. Despite what he thinks, Rollins should never be a lead-off hitter. His swinging mechanics and desire to hit hrs is terrible for a lead-off hitter.

Philly will win the division, Philly will win the NL ... as for the World Series, I won't stick my neck out that far (can't be too big of a homer) but they have a good shot.
