Dice-K is painful to watch thats for sure and his inconsistency is a pain in the ass but as a #5 he's decent.

I, and I feel like a lot of Red Sox Nation, detest Dice-K and anxiously look forward to him being gone.

Funny how Sox fans always make fun of the Yankees for paying big money for underperformance when the Sox spent like 110 million on this dude between his contract and his posting fee, and so far he hasn't been much of anything.

AJ Burnett pitched the game of his life in a basically must-win Game 2 of the WS in 2009.

He also shut out the Sox for 7 innings against Beckett in the 15 inning game at NYS.

Money well spent?

Please learn about his salary.

He is making 6/52M. He's making less than $9M a year.

He has a career 4.18 ERA as a #5. There's teams that have worse than that as a #3/4.

His only problem is he can't go deep into games. However, with horses like Lackey, Beckett and Lester pitching 3/5ths of the rotation, and a bullpen of Paps/Bard/Jenks and Wheeler, the Sox should be able to absorb DiceKs 5+ inning start.

Anyone who thinks he sucks is....well, a complete moron.

this is stupid.

Why can't we still bring it up? Because we signed one big FA, and might extend another big signing?

The Red Sox are typically 40-80M below the Yankees payroll. I never bring up salaries, but any team can still say "call the Yankees out". Just because we got Crawford/AGon it doesn't change that.

Derp, the Sox paid many millions of dollars just for negotiating rights for him

Derp, this is a retarded argument that morons who barely understand ESPN.com logic say.

1) The $51M didn't count against the luxury tax (the only $ that matters)
2) The $51M was considered an investment in the Asian market
3) It wasn't "just to negotiate with him" and this is the dumbest statement in the whole process. The $51M was given to the Lions if we signed DiceK. If the $ was there "just to negotiate with him" then guess what would've happened if we didn't agree to terms? The $ STILL would've gone to the Lions. However in reality, if we didn't agree to terms with DiceK, we would've gotten our $ back.

In other words, urine idiot.

I'm pretty sure between 1918 and 2004 was probably more than a billion in payroll dumbass.

its not stupid. once they see the success that we will have spending money they'll keep doing it. they will do the same thing next offseason

dumbass? u obviously mad so lets recap

i came in and said daisk was a good investment because he helped us win a ship in 2007

you replied to me asking if burnett was a good investment since he came thru in the WS and helped yall win a ship in 2009

i said that in between the 10 or so years that the yanks didnt win recently they spent a crazy 1 billion dollars so considering that a lot of people made alot of money and didnt win ****......Burnett actually helping to win was a good investment and money well spent

you reply with sox,1918 and more than a billion blah blah

am i missing something here? r u?
