the guy throwing the ball around is pretty much the only important one, everyone else is just there to juice and be on tv. Well, also the guy that catches the ball, he has to dodge all this roided up lazy ass monsters, but thats pretty much it.

disregard that rendition of the national anthem. Most people who sing it before an nfl game have respect for this country.

u have 4 plays to get 10 yards

the 4th play usually is a punt unless the team wishes to go for it. If they fail, the opposiing team gets the ball at the same spot.

Youll get the hang of it as it goes on, the guys who squat in front of quarterback are offensive line and they make sure the other squatting guys dont get to the qb. if it is a running play the offensive line moves the defensive line and the guys behind the line (linebackers) to make room so the running back can move as many yards forward as possible. you get 4 downs to get 10 yards at which the downs reset. If you don't make it on 4th down you're stuck where you are so most of the time teams use the 4th down to punt, or kick the ball as far as they can so the other team is far from their touchdown when they go on offense.

why does the game stop when someone catches it?

game stops when the player gets tackled (one knee down)

why does the game stop when someone catches it?

If they catch a kick such as a kickoff/punt, the returner has the opportunity to either catch it and run until they're tackled or call a "fair catch" which protects them from being tackled while they're catching it, but the offense takes over at the spot he caught it.
