Yeah.... we are, because he hasn't "scored" in all 21 games.

Assists =/= Scoring

well, assists are points. the goal wouldn't of happened if there wasn't an assist.
you gotta say tom brady doesn't have 31 tds cause he didn't catch the passes himself?

ITT some people are unable to read

"So we gonna act like Sid hasn't scored in 21 straight?"

does not equal

"So we gonna act like Sid hasn't scored a goal in 21 straight?"

I dislike Crosby and think he whines too much.. but no arguing he's by far the best in the game right now.. before this year I didnt feel he was even the best on the team.. but he's taken over this year.

it's nice to see someone admit this

I think people are stuck in 2007 though, he was a whiner when he was a teenager. That was a few years ago.

I have not seen him "whinning" in quite some time. He is the class of the league. I hope he continues to improve his game.

agreed, but he is leading the league in goal scoring...

I'm a caps fan but IRL reps to Crosby. I don't understand why all these bandwagon washington and pittsburgh fans are so full of hate. They're both epic players.

same. Crosby has been the target of hate since he came into the league. He doesn't showboat, he's a "model citizen" type, hell, he's a workout fanatic, unlike some guys who just rely on natural talent.

Crosby suffered from "overexposure syndrome". The non-knowledgeable US sports public knows jack-all about hockey, so a new, clean cut, super talented kid comes out and the media starts gobbing his knob like nobody's business. As a result, Crosby was under the discerning eye of tons of hockey fans looking for ANYTHING to hate on him for.

Like most 18-year olds, he acted like a whiney bitch. Now, 5 frickin' seasons later, he still can't shake the attitudes of the haters, regardless of what he does.

But I still don't think getting an assist is "scoring" in a game. Sure, you're gaining points on your stat sheet, but you SCORE goals. You don't score assists. The announcers don't say, "he passes and scores". Players "shoot and score". The Tom Brady comparison fails. First of all, it's two totally different sports and secondly, he didn't score the touchdown. He threw a TD to someone else. The WR is the one scoring the TD.

Regardless 21 games with a point is amazing. Gotta give credit where credit is due. Although I used to really dislike Crosby due to his whining and them beating the Red Wings, I definitely consider him the best in the league. Guy is a phenomenal talent. I'm hoping it can be a Wings/Pens rubber match in the finals (with the Red Wings winning of course).

hnnnnnnnnnnnnnghhhhhhhh

as for the scoring/points discussion. if people want to say goals=scoring, then wouldnt Crosby have won the scoring title last year?

It's a lot easier to call it "the scoring title" as opposed to "the award for the highest accumulation of total points". Let's not pretend that sports awards make any sense anyways.

Example, this years college football awards:

Lombardi/Rotary Award for Best Lineman- Nick Fairley DT- Auburn
Nagurski Award for Best Defensive Player- Da'Quan Bowers DE- Clemson

Interesting that one guy can be the best lineman, while the other guy (who is also a lineman) is the better defensive player.

I don't see too many haters in this thread. Everyone seems to be giving him credit for a great accomplishment.

except in hockey, the Richard is for the player with the most goals, and the Art Ross is for the highest SCORING player

:)

just sayin....

I know that. But I still think that they say it's for the highest "SCORING" player because it's easier to say than "the player with the highest accumulation of total points". Either way though, it's totally off topic. I didn't mean to derail the thread, Sid's tearing **** up and he deserves the respect for it. He's an awesome player to watch.

I wasnt a fan of his when he first came out. But the more and more I watch him play, the more and more I'm becoming a fan of his. Hes a once in a lifetime player. His drive and determination is amazing. The scariest thing is, hes just getting better and when he hits is prime its going to be witnessing Greatness.
