Yeah, you can change that back to fired.

Sources told FanHouse, the decision to resign was not Wannstedt's. Under Wannstedt, the Panthers routinely were rated by the recruiting experts as annually signing the Big East's top recruiting classes, but that success didn't translate onto the field.

Whatev.

The article I linked said Resigned, so I'm sure the whole first page would be correcting me.

Change it back to fired. Or I will hunt you down and kill you. I live in Galena and I know where you live.

j/k fired/resigned. Bottom line, no longer the coach.

I'm suprised by this, I know he lost to a few teams he should not of but come on. This year D Lew was ****, Romeus barley played and bottom line 2008-2010 Pitt had there best 3 year run in their history going 26-12. Not to mention that this was Wannstedt's dream job and he was working hard. Any thoughts who will take the reins? Maybe Leach can come here and joke the AD or something exciting

I'm honestly surprised it's taken this long.

I was just telling my dad how I thought this year might be the year they dump him. Not even making the BCS game in a very bad Big East would be the last straw.

Is this really true? Pitt claims 9 national championships and their best 3 year run is 26-12? That is sad if true.

Wannstedt has clearly underachieved at Pitt. They have been picked to win the Big East at least the past two years, maybe more. He blew a two game lead in the Big East this year. With the talent he has had there, he has not done his job well.

Nobody in college football has done less with so much. The recruiting classes are always ranked so highly...and you play in a total joke of a conf. How do you NOT run that ish?

they claim NCs back when there were multiple champs each year. whats funny is that they have signage in the open end zone of 9 crystal footballs. that would be like the Browns putting up a Lombardi trophy for winning in the 50s

they would get good, not great classes. wanny is a very good recruiter and a bad game coach. Pitt would snag 1 or 2 elite players and they would carry the team (Antonio Bryant, Fitzgerald, Revis, McCoy, Baldwin, Lewis???)
