What would you rather have:
- $5000 (tax free) cash
or
-You get to pick one of your teams to win a championship in 2011

5 k comes and goes, that title stays with you forever.

What does my team winning a ring get me? A false sense of accomplishment that isn't even mine. I would take the 5k in a heart beat. Jets and Mets (I was 3 doesn't count) haven't won anything in my lifetime so phuck it.

one of my teams winning a championship and then betting 5k or more on that game

JMath
12-05-2010, 11:12 PM
Easy. I would take the Detroit Lions winning the superbowl next season. Then I'd bet every penny I could before the season started on the Lions winning it and make a whole bunch of money.

If however, I wasn't able to utilize this loophole, I'd take 5k without a doubt.

VTheKing
12-05-2010, 11:13 PM
$5,000. At the end of the day I didn't do anything to further my team's success - heck, it isn't even "mine" - I have nothing to do with it!

seeing your team win a championship is something money can't buy. especially if ur team doesn't win alot

hardgainer14
12-05-2010, 11:15 PM
If I don't take the 5 grand, the team of my choice will be the 2011 champions. So can I bet on this outcome before the season starts? If not then give me the $5000.

Hmm, depending on which one of my teams. If I knew beforehand that they were going to win I'd slap down some serious cash on the game. Could walk away with a much larger sum than $5000.

I win?

BeanieWells

I have never tasted championship glory in my life aside from the Diamondbacks WS win in 2001 but I don't care much about baseball. All I want for Christmas is for the Cards to win a super bowl!

i voted 5k.

heck no.
id pick the clippers to win just to leave the NBA followers' minds full of phuck.

then once i knew the genie from the magic lamp granted that wish.
id literally sell everything i have to liquify it (i dont own a house)....take that money....and go to vegas n put it on the clippers winning it.

Lol you're acting like you're winning it.

That's why I say phuck my fav sports teams and especially the Mets. With all the money I dump in games and merchandise I figure they owe me 5k. There's no way I'm giving that up for a stupid championship just so they can continue to not win one for another 20-50 plus years.

Advil

if you played for the team, you would make 5 grand in like 15 minutes of game time with a "low salary"

My answer would absolutely be different if I played for the team, not just because I would already be rich, but because it would actually have personal meaning to me.

It would be nice to see the Cowboys (1995) win a SB again or the Longhorns (2005) a NC again. But to see the Oilers win a Stanley cup again, last in 1990 would be bitter sweet.

It's not about being poor. Enjoy watching sports is one thing, but to have it take over your life (or be obsessed with it) seems pretty stupid to me. If teams really want the championship, then they can get it themselves. I'll take my $5000

its a tough question... Red Sox and Celtics have both won recently so wouldn't do it for them... Packers would be great to see but we're strong enough we could win one soon without buying it.. so that leaves the Toronto Maple Leafs.. i would probably do it to see them win a Cup for the sake of all the fans.. but i could use 5k so don't think I could turn the money
