The Big East is an automatic qualifying conference. The best team in the Big East automatically gets to play in a BCS bowl regardless of how they stack up to the rest of the nation.

someone aware me why the Rose isnt pac-10 v. Big 10

there is this bizarre stipulation starting this year that "For the games of January 2011 through 2014, the first year the Rose Bowl loses a team to the NCG and a team from the non-AQ group is an automatic qualifier, that non-AQ team will play in the Rose Bowl."

Basically since Oregon went to the NC, the Rose Bowl was forced to take TCU, they didn't even have the choice of taking Stanford.

so ranked dont matter in BSC bowls? #5 stanford v. #12 VT

The ACC and Big Least are Automatic Qualifiers.

The Rose takes the Big 10 and Pac 10 champ, except this year when if they lost either of those to the NCG, TCU would fill that slot.

The Sugar typically takes the SEC champ, but lost them to the NCG, so they had choices of at-large bids.

The Orange usually takes the ACC champ, they did, and took another at-large.

Stanford is #4 brah (and VT is #13)

VT is ACC champ so they go to the orange bowl, and Stanford didn't get the Rose Bowl bid because of the stipulation I explained above, but since they were #4 they are guaranteed a bowl and they got picked by the Orange.

The only thing I am dissappoint about is that they couldn't somehow get VT and UConn to play each other so there could be at least 4 legit bowls. Those two dun messed it up for the rest. Stanford vs OU would have been a good game.

lulz, I would agree that there are some Sconnie fans that are getting crazy with their proclamation of UW but c'mon this doesn't happen to us every year. I think TCU/Wisco will be a great game, i just hope that the long delay doesn't change how the two teams perform. Should be interesting to see the number one defense against our ground game!

given the nature of bowl games (1+ month between final game and bowl game) it is difficulty to be certain about any match-up. If the two teams were to play this past weekend I would've put good money on Wisconsin. I guess I'll just have to hope Bielema keeps the badgers hungry.

made a lot of critical errors too. personal foul after personal foul to extend drives. And holding on a TD pass to go up 17-0. I just shake my head how that game turned. That was just how that team was. They didn't have the mental toughness to fight through adversity. Why they lost to llinois as well. I hate how that game gets lumped in with the bowl game that didn't exist after the 2006 season.

I have no problem with V Tech getting in. They are on an 11 game winning streak. The ACC isn't that bad of a conference.

Nobody bitched when USC got into the Rose Bowl after losing to Stanford.

pac 10>Acc.
2 losses to bad schools in bad conferences. there were much better options.

You really wanna do that?

2009 (last year if you recall): Losing to Purdue < Winning the BCS (not just an apperence ;))

Not hate, but this is a fun game

lol

I have a whole lot more ammunition if you'd like to play this game, including the 2007 season, I have my choice of 6 losses, as well as a decade of vacated wins and probation.

Do you really wanna do that?

Not really. Who?

The two-teams per conference rule keeps out LSU and MSU. (necessary evil due to inability to connect teams objectively, no matter how you select the teams - I can explain why if you don't know what I am getting at). That leave Mizzou and Boise ahead of them in the rankings. You said that Boise is a bad team from a bad conference, so do you thin Mizzou should be in ahead of them? They didn't even with their own division, let alone conference.

Nebraska, Okla State.. Boise isnt a "bad" team i shouldnt have said that but i think with va techs 2 losses to boise who all be it barely lost, and James madison. I just really think there are better ways around it and 11 game streak or not, their wins havent been overwhelmingly convincing. They get way too much credit because they're about the only respectable ACC team this year

The ACC teams that they beat are on par with the teams Okie St. beat IMO.

Nebraska-V Tech would be an awesome game, but neither one is convincing more deserving than the other.

My main point is that you have to have conference tie-ins, because we will never really know if the ACC schedule was tougher than the B12 schedule on average. (bowl games prove little IMO). What we do need is a floor for that auto bid to come into play. I say around 15 or 16. Win a mediocre ACC and are 14th in the BCS, come on down. Win a mediocre ACC and can't crack the BCS top 25, pls go.

Cliffs:
-Auto bids good
-They need to add a minimum ranking for the auto bid to still stand.

I didn't necessarily disagree with your post (James Madison ftw), albeit I don't really care. I'm sorry, all be it I don't really care. VT is a decent team, I'm not gonna complain about it.

How can a word that exists in the English lexicon be "wrong"? It exists, it has a definition, it can be used in a sentence. Did he tell you that "all be it" was the right thing to say?

how can you say that when va tech lost to james madison. i know nebraska was overrated this season but their W's are more impressive than va techs, and the prestige of the big 12 and their teams is much higher than the ACC. but i do agree with you about the auto bid

NU lost to TX. That's about 100X not as bad as losing to JMU, but the point is that one game isn't a reflection on either team.

I think that VTech's overall body of work is very comparable to Nebraska's. Nebraska beat a pair of Top 15 teams, but the ACC was very deep this year.

the acc was not deep at all this year are you serious? georgia tech was down, clemson, wake, unc, the U? The only respectable teams were va tech, nc state barely, and MAYBE florida state who was kind of a let down given how high the expectations were

BCS national title: Auburn vs. Oregon(Auburn)
Rose: TCU vs. Wisconsin(TCU)
Sugar: Ohio State vs. Arkansas(Ohio State)
Orange: Virginia Tech vs. Stanford(VT)
Fiesta: Oklahoma vs. Connecticut (OU)

Auburn is definitely the favorite with that Defense.

TCU smoked my team and shutdown our Offense. TCU is a bitter rival, but I still can't pick against them. Wisconsin brings the wood though so maybe they'll put 70 on TCU for me.

I still see Arkansas as a pretender LSU was a nice win, but I just don't think they have what it takes to beat OSU.

VT learned from the JMU loss. I think it sharpened the teeth and made them angry. They remind me of the Michigan team that beat Florida a few years back after some choke job loses.

Uconn is a decent team, but OU is loaded. OU should win this game, but we know they don't always do what they should.

I really hope all the teams I picked lose. I hope I'm a moron that got them all wrong, but that's just the way I see it.
