I purchased an Hitachi LCD without doing much research and while the picture is amazing, the response time was slow (like down to milliseconds) and it was really throwing me off. Might not matter to most people but I play quite often and felt like I was at a disadvantage with this lower response time. I did some research today and I found that plasmas have a better response time for gaming.

So could anyone suggest any plasma HDTV's in the $400-$600 range?

i know nothing about plasmas but lots of led tvs and such have low ms.

if you play any competitive online game then just get one thats 2ms or less. not that hard to find.

but i thought plasmas were bad for gaming?

So aim for 2 ms or lower for LCDs correct?

yeah, but that is response time, nothing to do with input lag

a good model is the samsung c530, the response time is 5ms but the input lag is 14ms, one of the best out there

the newer the model, more new technologies, more for the panels to process = more input lag, hence the "game mode" option on tvs, they turn off the "useless" stuff so there will be a smaller input lag

ahh ya.

but isnt response time still something to look at?

input lag = for frames delay?

opinion from a member:

If you're gonna use it for gaming, don't get the 40G300U. Input lag is very noticeable. I returned it after a few days.

response time is the time the pixels take to change from black to white to black again, so it is a good feature when a tv has low response time, input lag is the time the tv takes to respond to an input, may that be a computer or a console
