Boring sport
Only know a few people that watch it
TV ratings are on par with the NHL
Overall boring

Yet the players make more than NBA and NFL players

Baseball player salaries baffle me, but my guess is that 162 games per season = lots of $$$ from ticket sales

Attendance for baseball has always been something that confused me. Do teams actually sell out games playing on a weekday at 1:00 pm?

(srs question for the baseball brahs)

Think about everything that goes along with it though.

You have 81 home games in a season

Let's use the cubs as an example... over the last 5 years there average attendance per game is 39,660

81 x 39,660 = 3,212,460 tickets per year

The average ticket price per seat in Wrigley is $52.56

3,212,460 x 52.56 = $168,846,898

That doesn't even take into account that a beer that cost them .50 cents to fill a cup up with is like 7$ and a hot dog is like 5$. I bet the average person going to a Cubs game spends 20 or 30$

That's a lot of cheddar coming into a building!

Baseball is more popular than soccer as far as attendance goes, worldwide. Many baseball cities pull double what Manchester United pulls (1.4 million seats). San Francisco for example pulled over 3 million seats this season.

something like 66 million seats sold annually for MLB alone

Every game televised now adays

$30 parking

35,000~ average seats per game @ 162 games per year is the real game-breaker.

Probably the greatest sport in the world when u crunch the numbers.

if u were to average manchester united ticket sales over 162 matches im sure it would smash any baseball team, same goes for a typical nfl team. Baseball is one of the worst major sport on the planet, only behind hockey.

Yeah, except baseball actually HAS 162 games. It doesn't matter what figures you get when you extrapolate other sports.

You seem mad....

Then there is parking as well, which adds up for certain teams more than others.

Only two teams sell out every game, the Phillies and Red Sox. It varies, Mon-Wed will be the down days while the weekends will pack them in.

They get a ton of money from TV contracts. I know the Rangers just signed a 10 year deal with Fox Sports that pays them about $80 million per year. I'm sure the Yankees and Red Sox are double that.

x2. I hate the dumbasses who can't appreciate baseball. I'm not a big hockey fan but I won't going around saying it sucks.

A football game has about 7 minutes of actual action. So you ADHD kids who can't enjoy a baseball game can blow.

I don't think people understand how hard it is to fill a stadium for 81 games.
