View Full Version : No Fun League Strikes Again - Jared Allen

It looks like Jared Allen might be in the market for a new sack celebration.

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported Sunday morning that the NFL has told Allen that his "calf roping" celebration after sacks is against the rules. Glazer said the NFL informed Allen that he will be subjected to a 15-yard penalty and a league fine the next time he does the celebration.

The league prohibits players from going to the ground in celebrations. Allen takes a knee, pretends to rope a calf and then throws his arms in the air after sacks. We'll see if Allen now just does the celebration while standing up.

The interesting thing is Allen has done this celebration for years so not sure why the league is making it an issue now.

Here is the official response a league spokesman sent Judd this afternoon:

"The Vikings were informed by Vice President of Officiating Carl Johnson that Jared Allen's demonstration, in which he goes to the ground on one knee, is unsportsmanlike conduct as defined by NFL rules. Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1 (d) of the NFL Rule Book states: "Players are prohibited from engaging in any celebrations while on the ground." Demonstrations of this kind by any player will result in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty (loss of 15 yards) and are subject to potential fines.

I always thought it was a double standard when you score a touchdown you can't go down and put your hands on the ground in your celebration but you can be a clown and do a garbage celebration after a sack.

What a stupid rule. What is it with the NFL trying to take all of the emotion out of the players?

Yet players are able to jump into the crowd after a touchdown. Why is that not a penalty?

Piss off Goodell

Homerism? He's not even a Bucks or Brewers fan, so fukc off. He likes the team because of the team, not because of the city.

Part of what makes the NFL so great is players showing emotion.

Sorry but no one wants to watch a bunch of robots out there. Great move Adolf Goodell.
