I make my own protein bars.. quick, easy, and a great way to sneak in some protein when you need to run out the door real fast, i also like them for breakfast

recipe:
4 cups oats
6 tablespoons natural peanut butter
12 oz skim milk
6 scoops Optimum Nutrition Whey
1 cup chocolate chips (very boring flavor without them)

Nutritional Breakdown:
220 calories
18g protein
20g carbs
9g fat

Is this a good idea or not?

I second that the chocolate is probably not the greatest choice. It's not necessarily "bad", but if you're going to be getting the extra calories, it might as well be from a healthier source. The cocoa is a good idea, or I was going to suggest perhaps raisins or walnuts to provide more nutrients and more bang for your buck :)

walnuts underrated and underused
one of the best souces of Omega 3, along with flax
Most people load up on nuts and oils high in omega 6
