View Full Version : Can we put "Gaming" under a subforum on "Technology and Science"

I find this subforum to be really cluttered and confusing. For years we wanted a "Science and Technology" subforum where we can discuss the universe, technologies, and the meaning of life. It's really hard to take things seriously when you see a "How do I reach level 350 on Mario Kart" and "How old is our Universe" in the same forum.

If not then at least separate Gaming from Science and Technology.

I agree, separate the gaming and science/tech. sections. It is very confusing, and I am guessing the gaming is going to drown all the science threads, no one will see them off the first few pages, and it will just be a gaming subforum.

I have a good idea too, just above this lame section, an easy click-away from MISC, put a "Sports" section, with fantasy and sports training subsections.

Thoughts?

I think this section is big enough to hold alot of information on both science and hardware+software. Lots of trolling now, so give it a chance to cool down. The universe did, why can't you ;)

Yes to Gaming sub forum.

Yes to bring Sports back to the misc.

Yes to a Movies subforum on the misc.

YES. I've been an avid gamer for about thirty years so it would be a nice addition IMO.

We might see seemingly unrelated topics in this rather broad-topic forum, but further segmenting the forums is not the answer. We do not want inactive forums. Keeping it together is fine.

Yes please. Gaming to Science and Technology is like Science and Technology to Religion and Politics.

The need for Science and Technology being separate from R&P is the same reason it should not be put together with gaming where silly threads spam out more serious discussion.

I say see the ratio of thread topics in 2 weeks and make another decision

We seem to already have limitless threads on science and technologies, and since this forum is still new, give it a few weeks or even days, before all the gamers come rushing in this forum and asking questions, posting their stories or experience with gaming, etc.. I seriously doubt any of these 2 topics will become inactive. I mean hey! the misc asked for this science section.

Like Wild said, maybe we should wait a week or 2 before making this decision, just food for thought :)

also like Mindfree said.. Gaming to Technology is like an apple to orange, they might both be fruits, but they are nothing alike.

Please. It is retarded to mix in discussions of Mario Party with quantum entanglement and the molecular mechanisms of speciation.

I have to agree with OP, gaming should have it's own sub-forum.

They should certainly be split and the wisdom of this will only grow more apparent - that there are topics, threads and posts about this constantly is the surest sign.

Plus, it just makes more organizational sense.

The big bang in this new universe is over, now it's time for some separate galaxies to begin appearing. :)

I think it's fantastic that there's a science and technology section now. But I definitely agree to a video game sub forum.

Yes, the big bang has happened, but were sitll in our very early days and it needs time to separate!

I'm all for creating a separate forum for gaming or at least consolidating posts into one thread. Filling the "Technology and Science" forum with threads about video games and leveling up makes as much (or little) sense as cluttering the Misc forum with hundreds of threads about cartoons and comic books

There should be a separate sub section for technology within science so we are keep the theoretical and the applicable stuff separate.

lol that would be very nice, but I think that's asking for too much. separating game from tech and science is more than enough :)

make science a subforum of the WWE then delete both.

Then prepare for the Misc to be filled with wrestling threads. Freaking idiot moaning about it. At least this way its out of your way and you can avoid them.

never going to happen since wrestling is a big part of bodybuilding. amazingly enough and hard to grasp, the WWE is more on topic with bodybuilding that the Misc section itself.
