raptors receive
tyson chandler
boris diaw
leandro barbosa

bobcats receive
jose calderon
dwayne johnson (the people's champion)
reggie evans (scrub)

suns receive
hedo turkoglu
trade exception to use on josh childress

before chandler and calderon were not involved, but now apparently they are. It's a big win for toronto IMO

I missed it originally. Well the trade was added on to apparently. Looks like a cap dump for the bobcats so they can make room for tyrus thomas to be their main PF. Also replaces Felton. Sucks for dj augustin though who thought he was gonna start

Because he was a moron who thought he was to good for the Magic. Dumbass should have just stayed where he was...now he gets to float around as a nobody.

ummm the magic didn't have any money to offer him since they got vince carter so he went to toronto who willingly paid him far more than he deserved. And he is lucky to be with the suns now

I don't think the Raps' TPE is being used. At least that's what I've heard reported. Oh and Reggie Evans is added to the trade to Charlotte

He reduced like 12 million off his contract including a trade-kicker to be able to go to Phoenix. He's either extremely motivated to go to the Suns or to leave Toronto or both although its probably more of the latter and less of the former.

raps TPE not being used at all which is great news for us. Hedo for Barbosa, then Calderon/Evans for Diaw/Chandler

Yes it is, do you have any idea how much Diaw+Chandler make combined???? Raptors blew basically their entire Bosh TPE on that deal.

But this isn't a straight up 2 team deal. It's a three-way trade, which follow different dynamics. And even if the TPE is used, not much of it will be. Diaw and Chandler will make 21 mill next year. Jose is making roughly 10 mill. I don't know what Jones is making, but let's say 1.5 mill for dexterity's sake. Evans is making 5 mill. So that's a combination of almost 17 mill. The Raps got 16 mill TPE from the Bosh trade, and a 2.2 mill TPE from the Barbosa/Turk trade. 18.2 mill, and roughly 4 mill of that will be used to balance out the trades, IF it needs to be used, leaving over 14 mill left. Still a large amount

League sources could not confirm the final pieces Monday morning but the Raptors will not have to touch the $14.5 million trade exception acquired last week in the Chris Bosh sign-and-trade transaction.

Turkoglu is destined for Phoenix, Calderon is headed to Charlotte and the league sources were unsure who the third piece leaving Toronto is and where hes going.

The financial gains are significant.

Barbosa has two years and $14.7 million left on his current contract; Diaw has two years and $18 million remaining and Chandler will be paid $13.1 million this coming season.

Turkoglu still had four years and about $40 million left on his deal and Calderon has three years and almost $30 million left to go.

How can dumping two of the worst contracts in the league for significantly shorter expiring contracts ever be a fail? Even if it doesn't net them more wins without Chris Bosh which was never going to happen anyway?

I think most of the bro-science in the Sports section defines that if an all-star is not acquired, then the trade is automatically a fail

Nevermind, I didn't know Calderon was making about 10 mil per season, that's just stupid.

I can't believe we got this deal.

Jose and Hedo are HORRIBLE long term contracts and I had no hope anyone would take them off our hands.

Tyson Chandler is a great fit for us and Andrea Bargnani.

We got way better defensively, got younger, better contracts and got tougher.

don't kid yourself. They were the second best in the west last year. This year they will struggle for the 7th and 8th seed. Utah will fall out and houston will enter the picture

Same crap people said last year. "Oh yeah, the Suns won't even make the playoffs."

LOL. Now their bench is even deeper and they can stretch the floor even moreso.

Nash is the perfect point guard because of his ability to make those around him better. Without Amare the Suns will still be good because Nash is their best player, not Amare. I think Amare will be exposed a bit more with all the media attention in New York.

Amare isn't gonna have an elite point guard spoon feeding him pick n roll points all night. He will be exposed regardless of New York's media.
