Dude even sticks out his tongue just because he wants to be everything that MJ was. Too bad he will never touch Jordan's level.

I think he's saying 1 because that's how many championships Kobe won when he was the best player on the team. He rode Shaq's coattails in the other titles. This is proven by number of Finals MVPs.... 1.

how the hell do you get kobe with jordan? you should change to lebron. Kobe is in his own league. Jordan was good 4 8 years and then couldn't play anymore. Kobe been playing for 12 and is still on top. Kobe is just as good as him. If Jordan never played in the Nba. I can bet ya that Kobe would be the top player in the nba.

Some people are just ignorant man. The 2000 championship, I can see where people say that was Shaq's team. But, in the 2001 and 2002 Western Conference playoffs, Kobe led the Lakers in scoring and assists in 5 out of 6 series and was second on the team in steals behind Rick Fox in steals in all 6 series. The competition the Lakers faced in the West was far superior to what they faced from the East in the Finals in those two years. Shaq was still putting up great numbers in those series against teams with quality talent on their frontlines in the West, so in the Finals when he was going up against thin frontlines composed of scrubs, would it not make sense to exploit your biggest advantage?

Did you not read anything?

I said the 2000 championship team can be regarded to as Shaq's team because he was their best player throughout the playoffs.

In 2001 and 2002, Kobe Bryant was the Lakers MVP throughout the course of the entire postseason and the numbers back that up. He was the superior player to Shaq those two years when they were playing more talented, deeper teams in the Western Conference playoffs and the numbers back that up. The Finals were a cakewalk for them compared to the teams they played in the West. Who wouldn't give the ball to Shaq at will to let him punish people like Dikembe Mutombo, Tyrone Hill, Todd MacCollugh, and Kenyon Martin?!

Shaq was actually swept out of the playoffs in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999... how do teams with the "most dominant player ever" not even win a single game in a playoff series that many years in a row?

Furthermore, Kobe has been to the Finals 3 times in 6 seasons without Shaq as a teammate... Shaq has 2 Finals appearences in 12 seasons without Kobe as a teammate. Twice as many years for Shaq and one fewer Finals appearence for "the most dominant player ever"

This. On this Lakers Dynasty DVD that I have, they talk about the threepeat from 2000-2002 and tons of players from those teams like Fisher, Fox, and Horry all said that after that first title, Kobe was all about busting his ass and working hard to stay at the top and Shaq was more or less like "well I got a title, if I win more, whatever." It was like he got complacent with his status after he won a title and got extremely lazy.

So since Kobe was becoming the leader would you put the loss to the Pistons on his shoulders

justin8684
06-03-2010, 11:20 PM
That Laker team was a mess heading into the Finals that year. Outside of Kobe and Shaq, not one player on the team averaged over 7 points a game that series, and nobody played any defense. Fisher shot 30.6%, Malone shot 33.3%, George shot 39.3%, Payton shot 32.1%, Rush shot 31.8%, Medvedenko shot 35.3%, and Walton shot 38.5%. Kobe wasn't the only Laker that played poorly in that series. When your team shoots 41% from the field, 24% from behind the arc, and 64% from the line you are not going to beat any good team.

gswarrior510
06-03-2010, 11:22 PM
So since Kobe was becoming the leader would you put the loss to the Pistons on his shoulders

partially. but most of it was on shaq/payton/malone and their inability to do basic **** like box our or even try playing man defense. Kobe was the only good defender on lakers that series..shaq/payton/malone were like 3 jose calderons out there.

kobe did a little too much on offense and was bothered by prince who is probably the best "kobe defender" of all time. Billups murdered payton until they put Kobe on him.
