Very true I'm sure we got some old people on here though. I'm sure Kethnaab will be in here soon enough to vote for Harris.

Hard decision. Tyree was in the SB but didn't directly score a TD, they had to continue fighint for that TD

The other was in a divisional game but did actually score a TD to win the game.

If I had to pick, I'd go with the Tyree catch just cause I was able to watch the whole game live.

"Immaculate Reception" is an epic name.

Plus there's almost been 40 years of legend, praise and lore already built up.

Well I wasn't alive back then. And no one now has a good video angle of it either which makes it Tyree by default

Why is it that the play simply known as "The Catch" is not an option?

We just had an immaculate reception this past season. Only difference was it wasn't in the playoff's

Wasn't there actually a video on espn today of the best/most memorable catches of all time? I vaguely remember seeing a couple plays of it while at the dentist office.

Because a co-worker (who is 25) said he believes the immaculate reception is more memorable than the Tyree catch.

Steelers were supposed to win that game. They were like a 6 point favorite I think. The Tyree catch lead to one of the biggest upsets (if not the biggest) in superbowl history.

was about to post this

also, when the Tyree play happened I know I wasn't the only one who said "who the **** is David Tyree?"

The Tyree catch was for one of the biggest SB underdogs of all time on the game winning drive to ruin a perfect season.

The immaculate reception, for me. I wasn't even alive and I saw it replayed 10,000 times a year for my entire childhood. It was on all of my NFL highlight VHS tapes. And, it has a sweet name. Immaculate Reception.

I'd say John Taylor, Dwight Clark, and Santonio Holmes have higher rankings than David Tyree too.

One is referred to as "the immaculate reception"

The other is called "Tyree's catch"

What do you think people will remember more?

the scary thing is, that people will think the poll results are at all indicative of general opinion.

its quite possibly the greatest play of all time while tyree's catch is one of many amazing plays that happened in the last decade.

This. Idiotic poll is idiotic.

What? How?

All he's asking is, between the two catches, which one is more memorable. Never did he say "These are the two best catches ever, which one is better?"

Douchebag.

I think this topic would need to be revisited a few decades from now to get a better idea of how memorable the Tyree catch is.

Harris' catch happened before a lot of us were born and is a staple of NFL highlight films. It has reached the status of a "legendary" play over time.

Tyree's catch has just as good of a chance of reaching the same status given time. Combined with what happened on Manning's end of the play, I've heard more than one talking head describe it as the greatest play in Super Bowl history.

The legend of Tyree's catch will grow over time and will likely equal or exceed that of Harris'. At some point, a title other than "Tyree's Catch" is going to be attached to the play. (Personally, in my totally biased opinion as a Giants fan..."The Catch", "The Play", and even "The Immaculate Reception" fit Manning-to-Tyree better than any of the plays those names are currently associated with :D )

the question needs to be worded differently. does it mean more memorable in general, or to each individual?

the immaculate reception is at an obvious disadvantage as how young everyone is.

This. I know this is about the most memorable catch but that whole play was just epic. Add in the David vs. Goliath storyline=victory. But I didn't witness the immaculate reception so I have a bit of a bias I guess.

Tyree's. His catch is the greatest in Superbowl history and can't imagine it being surpassed. How crucial the catch was, how uncannily he caught it, how big of an upset he helped create.
