Dwight Howard
Gerald Wallace
Lebron James
Kobe Bryant
Rajon Rondo

Sadly, the best defensive player Ron Artest didn't get voted in because Lebron can get a great highlight block every other game.

Or maybe Artest didn't get voted in because his teammate did? I didn't watch many Lakers games but if Bryant shut down the other team's primary threat then there wouldn't be much left over for Artest to do to be named to the all NBA defensive team.

Somebody who watches Lakers games regularly, did Kobe or Artest typically guard the most potent offensive threat?

Do you agree with Kobe being 1st team over Artest?

No, but then again these "Team" awards have always been popularity contests, especially defensive teams

Kobe is a guard. Artest is a forward.

What?! This is an outrage! Le"insert word here to make a joke about his name" shouldn't even be on there! I can make those weakside blocks like he does! Those don't even deserve to be mentioned. And he's faking his elbow injury to get attention! Come on! Kobe is way better!!!!!

I wasn't aware they did all defensive by position. Good call.

personally, i think the 2nd team looks better defensively than the first. But i guess if its the coaches voting on the guys, they know better than id o.

they are only better defensively at 2 spots..one guard spot (sefolosha>rondo) and forward (smith>lebron)

All-defense teams are usually bullshiit. Lebron, Kobe, and Dwade rarely guard the other team's best guard/forward. They do it occasionally if its a big game or make a highlight play every now and then that gets on Sportscenter. They all may be good defenders, but they DO NOT consistently guard the best players.

Give some role players a little respect with these lists.

Not saying anything about Kobe or Lebron.

But Artest should be on the first team and everyone knows it. He makes the best shooters look like amateurs out there.

gswarrior510
05-05-2010, 06:45 PM
Artest is a forward, so you should only be "saying nothing" about Lebron. If it was not by position, i wouldn't have Kobe there either.

Agreed that Wade is better help than iso, but he's improved drastically. When called upon late in game, he always delivers. And don't bring up Kobe's game winning banked triple in Wade's grill, because you couldn't defend any better there.

Thing is, LeBron James fits your description better than Wade does.

both do tbh. lebron and wade are great help defenders, but defense overall is much more than that. Rotations, closing out, running over/under screens etc. From the Boston series you could tell that Wade struggles with closing out and chasing shooters (Ray Ray).
