Because spread QBs always fail in the NFL?

Alex Smith may break that mold next year.

Ehhhh I wouldn't write him off. I don't mean become a pro-bowler like Calikid thinks.

But definitely average to above average QB is a possibility.

I think he's a great project, but as of now Orton > Tebow, so he won't be starting.

Easy to say "haters gonna hate" when Tebow won't even see the field for 2-3 seasons.

The only possiblity of him being good is because of his work ethic and McDaniel's success in grooming QBs.

and they also said ray lewis was too small. tebow has the same passion and work ethic as a ray lewis

im not saying tebow is going to be a GOAT like ray lewis but i wouldent be surprised if tebow puts a few pro bowls under his belt before his career is said and done

didnt drew brees come from a spread offense?

abbh62

nothin against tebow, hes a great person...but when he played halfway good defenses, he pretty much failed as a qb, and turned into a fullback....even with all the talent at florida, when the game was tight, 90% of the time he was going to try and run it...

my example will be tennessee

anyways, tebows stats that game (not 100% but something like)

completed probably 20+ for only 113 yards.
and ran the ball like 30.

the same thing happened the majority of the time when they 1. played good teams. 2. were down in close games.

Tebow got the majority of his passing yards off teams like Florida International.

again...no hate on tebow, hes a great person and a GREAT college player...i just don't know if that style can compete in the pro's!

--i hope he proves me wrong though, id love to see someone like him do well!

I don't know. Did he?

Even if he did, Purdue runs a passing spread. Spread option is a lot different.

before we crown him, let's consider his opponent. 32nd in passing yards allowed. 32nd in passing TDs allowed. 32nd in opponent passer rating allowed.

opposing QBs in 14 games have put up the following stats vs. Houston's defense:

326 for 493 (66.1%), 3851 yards, 31 TDs, 11 picks, 275.1 YPG, 8.2 YPA, 103.1 passer rating.

After 14 games, they've already given up more yards passing than the 2008 Detroit Lions gave up all season long...y'know...the 0-16 Lions?

There have only been 3 QBs in the NFL this season who did NOT throw multiple TD passes against Houston: Rusty Smith, Donovan McNabb (who threw 426 yards) and Tim Tebow

Mark Sanchez put up 315/3 against him, Matt Cassell and Eli both put up 3 TDs against them, Bruce Gradkowski put up 278/2 against them.

Now, that being said, you play the opponents you are given, and Tebow led a come-from-behind victory by playing like a champ in the 2nd half

damn funny stuff if one of McDaniels' "unique" personnel moves ends up being a barnburner of a pick
