Okay, quick question...for someone looking to add lean muscle mass at a slow, sensible rate (say 1-2lbs per week) whilst lifting heavy with moderate cardio...

How many calories should I consume above maintenance?

500 extra cals seems the magic number but will more (say 1000 cals) lead to fat gain or quicker muscle gain if training hard regularly?

lol@ 1-2lb per week being a slow sensible rate. Try 1lb per month if you are lucky.

Ha Ha yeah we wish mate, 52-104lb a year lol

1lb a month as said will be great, 12lb of muscle a year, even that is above what most will ever achieve.

okay maybe slight overkill on the 1-2lb per week but just wondered the optimum calories above maintenance to gain muscle with limited fat gains.

Currently 5 ft 9- 147 lbs would like to get up to 160lbs for a start but staying ripped
