View Full Version : A question pertaining to calories and cardio

I'll make this short and sweet.

- So far today I ate approx. 1700 calories.
- I worked my biceps and back out for just over an hour.
- I completed a 4 mile run in just under 36 minutes.

Now, the treadmill estimated I burned about 460ish calories during the run. Factor in the hour of lifting and we can guesstimate I burned 550 calories today in the gym alone.

My question is: Theoretically, am I supposed to subtract the number of calories I burned today from the number I consumed, and get my caloric total for the day?

1700 - 550 = 1150?

So confused. =[

yea your right about the calories, although you probably burned more calories lifting weights for an hour than 100...probably closer to the 300-400 range assuming your were lifting heavy weights with about 60 sec rest intervals...

also make sure your getting enough calories in to fuel your workouts...if 1150 is your calorie total for the day your probably not eating enough and risk losing muscle as well as fat.

Yep A calorie deficit is a calorie deficit no matter how you create it, being food or exercise.
