He is hte best defender in the NFL and who ever doesnt think so obviously hasn't seen him play

this is a 100% certainty, in my mind (and imo the mind of any logical football fan)

I agree the best overall in the league is more than debatable, but imo, stats wise and overall effect on the game wise... Revis is the most dominant, thus best overall.

edit: I'm not a Jets fan (Browns fan, lol) and I am a Peyton Manning fan... this is just my opinion.

Pretty much.

I'm not gonna anoint the guy for picking off a bad pass, by a QB who's played like **** the whole game or for terrible coaching.

He's not the best player in the NFL, not the best player on defense in the NFL either.

sh*t, wait...

although i dont think revis is the best player in the nfl, mvp's are such bull****. peyton as been outperformed by other qb's in the last 2 years and still on it as well as by otehr players.

brb phillip rivers beating peyton in every statistical catergory and winning his division yet peytn manning gets mvp for gettin wilcard spot and finishing behind the kerry ollins led titans

brb being 2nd player in history to get 5000 yards but losing to peyton
brb rushing for over 2000 yards but losing to peyton manning

brb having one of the best seasons ever or a corner and losing to p manning.

mvp's are only given to rb's and qb's so using the mvp card is useless.

CHARLES WOODSON IS THE BETTER OVERALL DEFENDER

personally i think Asomugha is slightly better than Revis in terms of coverage

Revis has a great pass rush to help him out
while Aso has the Raiders...nuff said

only downside with Aso is the Raiders only place him on one side of the field and won't let him shadow the other teams #1 receiver

Actually Woodson had a great year.

74 total tackles (20 more than Revis)
27 pass deflections (only 10 behind Revis)

3 TDs (2 more than Revis)
4 forced fumbles (4 more than Revis)
1 fumble recovery ( 1 more than Revis)

Uh Charles Woodson the guy who beats Revis in every single statistical category.

please tell me you are not serious... you do realize quarterbacks don't throw at Revis, period, so it would be very hard for him to have boosted stats?

Revis was matched up against much better competition than Woodson as well, and performed better (QB's refused to even throw at him)

Hmmm let me either look at stats or go by what some guy on some forum says?

Tough decision there....

learn to analyze stats... numbers on papers don't tell the whole story.

you would be fired effective immediately if ever put into the position to make such decisions (for some of them, not all)

no answer? when has asomugha been beat like that?

Vincent Jackson burned him a few times this year.

Asomugha doesn't get beat because teams rarely throw his way. They have the luxury of running all over the Raiders. When teams have to throw, they can pick apart the rest of the Raiders weak secondary, rather than going after Asomugha. Finally, teams usually get out to such big leads on the raiders that they don't even have to throw the ball at all, they just run the clock out.

Dude's making it like Woodson had 1 more INT and 4 more tackles.

Woodson literally had multiple games worth of more stats.

Meaning Revis would have had to play 3-4 (maybe more) more games to match Woodson's stats.

That is a big ****ing deal when we're talking about at least 25-30% of a season's worth of stats.

stats are numbers on paper... they tell a bit of the story, but not the whole thing. you can't accumulate stats when you are not being thrown at because you completely shut the guy lining up across from you. please try to wrap your head around the fact that stats are just numbers, and they don't tell the whole story. perhaps you missed the Packers allowing 51 points (and a decent amount of passing TD's) while the Jets, being led by Revis, allowed 8 touchdown passes ALL SEASON.

and to the 27 year old phaggot with a Raiders tattoo on his arm (which imo makes your opinion worthless)... let me break something down for you. Aso lines up on one side of the field every single play of every game. they don't bounce him back and forth, so it is predictable. he is a great DB (top 3, no doubt) and shuts that side of the field down each game, I will give you that. however, since I know this, it should be obvious that opponents know this as well, leading them to put their #1 receiver on the opposite side of the field every play, so he never guards them. Aso's main benefit is that he shrinks the field down for the opposing offense, but he is not being matched up against the #1 guy from the opposing team. Revis lines up every single play across from the opponents #1 guy.
