A friend of mine's power supply recently went out, and so he bought an 850w psu to replace it, and the original one was like 250 or 300w (could be wrong).

anyways, he got this psu and now his computer won't work. well, it will turn on, but the monitor says something like "no input device" on the screen, and he can't get anything else to come up. he's even tried switching out video cards.

could this psu be too powerful for his monitor, motherboard, etc?

have him remove the battery on the motherboard and leave it out for a few minutes and then place it back in. see if it does anything

there is no such thing as a PSU too powerful
