Dude stop. Dwelling on negativity gets you nowhere.

But to answer your question, yes I have. I'm sure most people have. But we are all better off when we don't.

What's getting you down?

I sit down and thank God for all the blessings in my life. You should look at what you do have and not focus on the things that you do not have or want to have. If you are really feeling bad then you may want to look into some meds and maybe seek counseling. We all get the blues from time to time though so hang in there and be thankful for all that you have.

I feel the same way and this is the response I have been getting from loved ones. It is spot on. I am trying to find my happy place, you should too. Try to have fun or do something fun everyday. It seems hard when you are in that state of mind, but you have got to try.

Life is a funny thing, and it's really all about perspective. When you think about it, Bill Gates and the bum on the corner of the street have one huge thing in common, they are both going to end up dead with nothing.
When you look at life that way, it's an easy way to make yourself feel suicidal in a matter of hours.

But, in the end, we are all here on earth. Obviously we leave with nothing and who knows what happens afterwards, but for now, we are here and we might as well make the best of it. I bust my ass in the gym everyday... yet if I make it to 80 years old, that will be rather useless as my body will eventually be destroyed by the toll of time. BUT that's later, this is NOW. We live NOW.

I guarantee you i'm suffering more than most of you here, I've been ill everyday for the past four years, doctors find no cure for me, yet I'm still moving on with life and kicking it's ass in the ways I still can. It's tough to find a reason.... but I get up, trees are still growing, birds are chirping, life is still evolving... something tells me I should keep doing the same (and no, it's not easy).

I'll tell you a true story...

In the mid 90's I was going through one of those "What does it all mean things." Trying to get my head straight after taking "Expiramenting with drugs" into "Abusing the hell out of drugs." Part of getting clean and getting straight in the head required me to hit the road.. Mostly because I'd Crapped a long brown streak of stupid and depressing down the pant leg of my life.

And I happened in my crazy reckless travels from sea to shining sea to come across this little black man named Jimmy... Jimmy split with me shot for shot his cheap little bottle of seagrums extra dry Gin... And we spent the better part of two hours swapping tales of woe.

Jimmy was dieing from Liver Cancer... His Health insurance carrier had bounced him half way through his treatment and his family was poor... So a man who'd barely had more than a couple drinks in his life was trying to drink himself to death on the streets, just to speed his way up to an end he couldn't stop.

The impressive thing about the man was how he actually bothered to listen to the peckerhead Post-Adolescent Angst Bull****e I had to say. (Something I didn't really get at that self-centric phase of my life.)

As I was getting up to leave because I'd spotted my friends coming out of the cheap casino I'd been bounced from... I went to go shake his hand...

He Latched on like a vice grips... Looked straight at me with his yellow eyes and said "Always Remember... When the Darkness gets up on you in this life... All you have to do to chase the shadows away is turn your light up!"

*****

The reality is that life is always going to get up on you with trouble and problems... The problems are going to change as you grow... life is like that... It's a Dynamic Process...

If you want to win... You want to become strong on the path of personal power... You have to dig deep and find the courage to turn your particular personal light up, against the weight of whatever XYZ darkness happens to be creeping into your soul ass hole first.

Until you embrace the courage and challenges of staying mindfully positive about your life in the midst of all that is going wrong... You will always be let down, pissed off, under appreciated, and sad.

And since that's no Goddam way to go through life... Then you damn well better put more energy into turning your light up... Because the shadows... They're always going to be dark. So change what you can change to make it better in your life!

Thank you, Nainoa.

No problem Bro...

I look at it as "I went through the things I went through... And it helped me... Good to put some use into helping others with it where it can."

But ultimately... You're going to come across people in your life that amaze you with what they know or can do... But being amazed isn't worth SH*T compared to letting yourself be inspired to learn from it and do better yourself!

*****

In my wallet I keep a quote... That every day when things are getting bad... When they're getting hard and life is beating on me... And I read it... Like an alcoholic reads his little black prayer book...

Everyday I take it out and read the quote....

"Let me tell you something you already know... The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows... It's a very mean and nasty place and it will BEAT YOU TO YOUR KNEES... and Leave you there Permanently if you LET IT!

You-Me-Nobody can hit as hard as life!

Only it ain't about how hard you hit... It's about how hard you can get hit... And Keep moving forward! How much you can take... And keep moving forward...
That's how Winnin' is done!

Now you say what you're worth... Then go out and get what you're worth... But you gotta be willing to take the hits, and not say that you ain't where you wanna be, because of him or her or anybody...

Cowards do that, and that ain't You!"

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

The first thing I do each morning before I get out of bed is thank God for the day and the opportunities I have been given. I then tell myself that this is going to be a great day. Then, no matter how you look, Smile at yourself and make a funny face in the mirror. Even when you look and feel tired in the morning you can still laugh at yourself.
