Luckily I matured enough in four months to be able to take something like this seriously. No more justifying egg mcmuffins as healthy, lol. I'm going to crush you all, and throw you into the wind...

...or support you all. I haven't decided if I want to be a hero or a villain yet. Probably an evil villain so that you all can say, "I'll show that motherf__ker!"

Do me a favor and don't mention Egg McMuffin's or Sausage McMuffins ever again. Honestly, that is the one food item that I crave more than anything else.

Cool! First time poster and I will fit in here nicely.

26 yo Male
6'1" & around 253lb's

My long term goal is to be a solid 100kg's and under 10% bf.

Started going to the gym a month ago.
I have lost 15lb's so far. But a lot of it would be water weight tbh.

My diet will be around 3000 calories a day. 40/40/20 split.
Going to start HITT training next week instead of running for 10mins+ on the treadmill.
And starting to lift again!!

I am thinking about following this guys program.
http://www.mensworkoutguide.com/home.html

Any advice to a newbie will be well appreciated!!

Good luck guys.

Total calories: 360

1 microwavable steam bag of broccoli
2 slices of 2% milk cheese
2 servings of the frozen shrimp at Wal Mart that you can thaw out and eat

Takes 5 minutes to prepare

Will feel like you ate a horse

Any big guys want some motivation for weight loss and anything else join in. Start date will be Saturday, May 16th. Weight and phtots(if you want). Saturday, May 30 photos have to be in for everyone and final Date is Sunday, August 16. A total of 4 months. Just post if you want to join in.

I am a little late for this one as I'm almost done with my cut. But thought I could provide some motivation and encouragement.

Started at 238lbs (not quite 250) and probably 25% BF on 1/1/09. Down to 180lbs and about 13% BF today (in 4.5 months). My initial goal was to get under 200 but I have a new one now to maintain around 175 and get under 10% BF.

Growing up my dad was overweight and I thought i was destined to be too because of my 'genes'... that was my excuse for ballooning during and after college. When my dad lost 70lbs last year I realized that it was all about diet and exercise. Genes play a part in body type but almost everyone can overcome that.

Drop you caloric intake to a deficit - probably about 1700-2000 - (don't cheat) and get to the gym 3-4 days a week and you WILL lose significant weight; I don't care who you are or what your 'genes' are.

A lot of people say they're obese due to their genese, however, it's only the case with morbidly obese people who have gone through diet and exercise routines and still gaining. When obesity is actually due to their genes they are predispositioned to having smaller thyroid follicles (we did not go indepth physiologically why individuals with smaller thyroid follicles are overweight), or a mutation in one of the enzymes in the metabolic pathway, for example, the enzyme used to catalyze the degredation of triacylglycerols into fatty acids so that it can diffuse into the blood stream from the adipose cells and be transported into the cells to be used for energy via glycolysis, krebs cycle, and the etc, but if altered in some way it could greatly lose functionality and catalyze this reaction at a much slower rate compared to an individual with the normal enzyme.

I still *believe* that 98% of the people who are overweight is because of poor lifestyle choices.

Hey guys, been reading the thread, great job everyone, this is very inspiring. I just came from a cut myself, what really helped me curve my hunger was drinking water. I have a desk job and normally pack my lunch, and I have a 2L water jug that I fill up twice a day. I eat 5 small meals, but when you start to diet, that burn is pretty strong. I find that consuming water all day really puts a stop to that.

So far I'm drinking a gallon a day and feeling great, the weight is coming off as well.

Keep up the good work, will be following!

Remember, skeletal muscle cells (muscle) are more dense than adipose cells (fat) so if you're remaining the same weight, apparently you're gaining muscle mass while shedding fat. Keep it up, eventually you'll plateau in gaining muscle mass and you will start seeing a difference on the scale. The mirror is where it really counts.

Sorry guys, I am really late, I desperately want to lose weight for a rugby tour down in South Africa and the beach also. Do you reckon I could lose about 2 stone (28 pounds) in the now to 25th July. My stats are:
Height - 6 foot 5. Weight - 265 pounds. Body fat - about 30%.
I've weight trained on and off but never heavy (I didn't have facilities) for about 3 months and done a good amount of cardio. However my diet has been ****. I think I've got the will power now to begin improving my body.

So this morning I wake up and weigh myself before i take my mito and i come up as 260.2 twice (after double checking 3 more times.) This is a total shock to me since on Monday I was 267 and just 263.4 on Thursday.. (Was already happy with these results for the week.)

I have to be way past the water weight because I started at 311 and now look where I am. I had like a 2-3 week plateau also where I stayed at like 269-271 just up until this last week. I'm only just getting close to being on mito week 2 but I am past that "It might take mito 5-7 days before it fully starts to work."
Taking this from another thread unrelated to this one that I posted in. The results I got this week are amazing me.

Exactly, and I'm expecting this weekend to be the worst. lol My anniversary, my parents anniversary, and my brother and sister's birthdays. Gonna be a party!!! I'm gonna have to get some extra exercise in. lol On the normal weekends though, I just have to find something to keep me busy. I hear that man... my family got a beach house this summer ~30 min away from where I live so its pretty much booze/bbq all weekend. I had a couple beers on saturday to celebrate the new place but other than that having a sandwhich with white bread instead of wheat was the worst I did this weekend... so not too bad I guess ;)

If you focus on you're goals and make sure the people around you know what they are as well then you shouldn't have too much trouble steering clear of drinking. My birthday is in ~month so I'll probably have more than a few that day but other than that its water and protein shakes :)

If you want it bad enough, you'll find the strength to pass up on the bad food/empty calories though.

Started last week at 263.5. Down to 260. Goal is 200 by Dec 1st.

I like starting my mornings out with 30-40 minutes on the treadmill. Been doing a modified/light HIIT-type routine. Warmup for 5 minutes, then jog for a minute, then walk for 1-2 minutes, while trying to keep my heart rate in its target zone.

Lifting will be 3-4 times a week, usually during the week while resting on the weekends. Splitting body parts up by major/minor.

I have cut out all carbonated drinks from my diet. Usually snack on apples throughout the day at work. Lots of chicken breast or lean steak for lunch and dinner.

Thanks man! Yeah, I need to trim down a lot. Going on a cruise during the first week of January again and I don't want to look like a beached whale again. LOL!!!!!! I have no doubt we can reach 200. Hopefully that 200 also means a pair of 34-36in pants. My tipping point was a couple of weeks ago when I couldn't find shorts that were big enough for me. :-(

Stick with it. If there's one thing that I know, it is that weight loss is not linear. You can lose 1 pound in three weeks, and then drop 10 lbs. in two weeks. Persistence is the key to winning the battle. Don't get discouraged. My body has always reacted like that. I will lose really slowly, and then out of nowhere it will drop a ton. See it through, and you will be glad you did.

I had a little home cooking and cake that was delicious. I had boiled crawfish and shrimp and a little fried catfish. The cake was from whole foods and it had blueberries and blackberries. It was a lot of sodium i know and the fat wasnt ridiculously high i know but i drunk a ton of water and i stayed up a little later to let it digest. I never had a cheat and i been going strong and losing weight for three weeks. My weight only went up a little less than two pounds if that much so im not really tripping. it will be gone by tommorow im sure. It sure was good though. I may not have another for another month if that soon. Im really not into cheat days this time around.

If you guys have crazy apetites (and poor culinary skills), try this on for size:

http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/43/0521091050.jpg

Total calories: 360

1 microwavable steam bag of broccoli
2 slices of 2% milk cheese
2 servings of the frozen shrimp at Wal Mart that you can thaw out and eat

Takes 5 minutes to prepare

Will feel like you ate a horse

I ate a whole bag of those shrimp last night. 80g protein. I did have some cocktail sauce though. It fit into my deficit for the day though, so no harm done.

Don't worry man. We've all been there. It can be tough some days, but the only thing that will make you feel better is to stick with it until you see the results you want. If you get upset and stop, it will make you feel even more upset. It's an ugly vicious cycle that most of us have gone through at one point or the other. lol You'll do great man. Cheat meal turns into cheat day turns into cheat weekend.

I've basically had to stop drinking to keep to my diet on weekends. Getting drunk is bad enough but the effect it has on my willpower is the real killer.

It seems like I am fine so long as I can stay busy and don't end up in front of the tv. Boredom does me in every time, and I have a hard time stopping myself...

I understand the cheat meal, cheat day, cheat weekend. It's tough. I'm glad I'm not the only one dealing with it. I've basically said no drinking for the next couple weeks....and then I go to Vegas for 4 days! ****.

Well as I thought my weight wouldn't drop much until summer started cause I'm about to finish up school. But I did notice that I'm putting on a lot of muscle. In the past week my arms have gone up to 17" and my thighs are finally over 30" and I found this weird since I haven't been working the arm much but I guess the work that I am doing has paid off. I'm feeling by the time this is over I might be down to under 270lbs but my body will be bigger muscle wise.

Just curious how many of you are actually keeping track of calories vs just eating better? I've never been one to keep track but over the last month or two have gotten a lot better (probably because my wife is a calorie nazi). First found out I wasn't eating nearly as much as I thought then found out I was eating too much. Try and keep around 2000cals/day and try (key word) to keep a 40/40/20 split.

I use fitday too. I think I have more custom foods one there that I use then ones they actually have listed. I don't get on there every day but that's because I'm the type of person who eats the same thing every day and the only thing that really changes is dinner. So at the end of the day I have a pretty good idea what my calories are at. The only time I'll go on is if something deviates or if I just feel like filling out my day.

Stayed at 260, but lost .5 inch off of my waist (both where I'm the largest and where my pants are...yes, I've got the overhanging belly *sighs*).

Gonna step up my cardio and also step up on eating more clean foods. Last week resulted in 3 lunches with friends and going out over the weekend. So I guess I should be happy that I at least didn't set myself back any, just stalled it.

My scale weight is up 6 lbs but I did purchase a new scale, so some of it could be attributed to that. (The old one broke and was measuring inconsistently.) My cloths are fitting looser and my BFP is lower. I worked hard last week and my muscles feel fuller then ever. I feel great, just a little frustrated. I know I made muscle gain, so I am not going to dwell on the weight #s but want to figure out any mistakes I might be making. I can't wait to get home and pound some iron. I am going to track my food for the week and clean up anything that mat be off in my diet. I also am going to break my cardio into two sessions using HIIT instead of 1 long daily LISS. I'm gonna beat this fat into submission.

That's all that really matters! I have body measuring tape and take measurements once a week. If your waist is getting smaller, then you are definitely moving in the right direction! Outside of my waist, I don't necessarily care if my arms are getting bigger or smaller, per se. I'm just more concerned if my lifts are not getting less (which they are not...have actually increased).

Well I'm definitely not gonna drink while on my diet again because today I feel like complete ****, a total failure. My weight is back up to 255 because my dumb ass drank like 8 beers and two shots. Then to top it off i had the munchies so bad that I went to the gas station and just ate complete junk like a hour before I went to sleep. I hoping a lot of it is water weight but still my body just feels all nasty and I feel "fat" like I did when I was 300+ because I guess that's how bad junk food really is on your body, its just not natural. =\

So today I said what the hell and gave it a shot. They fit now, they are a little tight around my ass but my thighs are nice and comfortable, and they button up and zip up fine. I dunno just thought I would share this since it gives me motivation, because even though I have dropped some weight, I still looked and felt like nothing was happening, and now this helps me out by saying stick with it, it is working. Aside from carb cycling you may want to just eat a lot of slow digesting carbs in the early parts of the day and just dial them down after you work out that way you can have the energy you need it when need and you wont have to deal with the little bit of extra weight you may hold eating them in the later part of the day.

Well this week I felt like I would lose my usual 2-3 lbs, but I stayed the same. So this week's update is at 329. Gonna kick it up a notch this week, I'm going to a 4 day split workout rather than my old 3 day split now.

It's so great realizing that I've broken some habits that I would always fall into. Had a very tough day at work. Really stressed out. Normally, I'd either do one of two things, while justifying it as "I had a bad day, so therefore I'm going to eat." I would either -

1) Go to McDonald's and buy a Large Double Cheeseburger Value Meal with a Coke and WITH another Large order of French Fries

or

2) Go to the carryout down my street and buy a bag of Lays potato chips and a gallon of 2% milk. I would usually eat at least half the bag and drink close to half a gallon that evening.

And honestly, sometimes those would just be regular dinners as well!!!!! 4 weeks in and I'm not falling for that crap again! Though, my mouth did start to water when I wrote that all out. Instead of a cheeseburger, I think I'll go make myself a protein shake and watch some baseball instead!

KEEP IT UP EVERYBODY!!!! Not to go all "The Waterboy" on ya, but YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

Weighed myself a little early this week. Going to the Reds game this afternoon, which will undoubtedly lead to a couple beers and a hot dog for sure! And then I'm going out to Indiana tomorrow night to see PHiSH perform.

2.5 more pounds gone that will never see my body again. :-) A full inch off of my gut and another half inch off of my waist (though in my BodySpace, my "gut" reading is my "waist" measurement). It sure is going to feel GREAT when both those numbers are the same (or only off by an inch or less).

Anyways, down to 254.5. Next week, I want to try to concentrate on trying to get more morning cardio in. I only had 1-2 sessions this past week. I know I'm making excellent progress, but I want more AND I want to be in great shape.

what do your diets look like?

what do your workout routines look like?

Ive been lifting(no cardio) and eating better since february and,my waist size has gone down roughly 2 pant sizes(was 44 now 40).i weigh 275 now which is only about 5 lbs less than when i started.I am having trouble with my diet cause i do not have any good recipes so i get tired of eating the same bland food week after week. Can anyone share some recipes please?I am going to start doing some cardio this week starting tomorrow and hopefully i will get better results than what i am currently seeing.

So guys we are just about 2 months away from the final day. To see our progression not only weight I want to see measurements. So quote your starting measures and compared to now. Some will be smaller and weight less, some bigger and weigh then same. But in reality its not the weight it's the size of you that matters cause this is what people see. So if everyone can post their new measurements by friday that will be great.

Well, it is about 95% diet at the end of the day. Check out this thread...

Just make sure you are measuring and weighing everything. The only way to be certain you are hitting your calories is to be anal about measurement. Kick some ass:-) Regardless, you are moving in the right direction. You gotta be happy about that...

Good news is that I am down to 233 lbs. from 257 lbs. at the start of this. Bad news is that as of this morning I became a statistic casualty of the recession, and am now unemployed due to lack of work. Here's to hoping that I don't let this derail me...

Down to 249lbs. Started at 263.5. I believe it's been 38 days. Once I got my diet really dialed in (after week 2), the weight has been coming off. My gut stayed the same, but my waist (where I wear my pants) went down another .25 inches. I can't wait for both numbers to be below 40. That will be an awesome day!!!!

I know everyone says this, but it's true - Keep your head up and try to have a positive outlook on this. I don't what your job was, but maybe this might be an opportunity for you to find something better, or to even start your own business.

Also, you'll definitely have more time to concentrate on working out and dieting! :-)

Been away from this site, and I'm back to cutting.

I got down to 214 on my last cut, and I started this one in the low 280's so, rest assured, my last couple semesters of college were filled with plenty of beer and takeout food.

But now I'm back in the saddle, and I'm going to periodically post my results in here.

I'm eating 2,100-2,500 cals per day, usually around a 40/25/35, P/C/F split. Some might say this is too low, but I've lost over 80lbs in the past eating around this much, and its just what my body needs. Plus, I'm not a huge fan of cardio so I have to keep the intake lower.

As far as workout plan, I'm currently on the Notre Dame football upper body plan (it was made for a friend of a friend on the team with a lower-body injury) and I'm subbing in one of squat, dead, and clean each time I work out. I'm hoping that, on this plan, I'll be able to not just cut down to where I was before, but get my strength back.

Good luck everyone, I'll be reading.
